Safety
1. Power Source - The unit should be connected to power supplyonly of the type described in the operating instructions or asmarked on the unit.
2. Polarization -- If the unit is equipped with a poladzed AC powerplug (a plug having one blade wider than the other), that plug willfit into the AC outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you
are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing theplug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to
replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose ofthe polarized plug.
3. Power Cord Protection - AC power supply cords should berouted so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched byitems placed upon or against them. Never take hold of the plug orcord if your hand is wet, and always grasp the plug body whenconnecting or disconnecting it.
4. Nonuse Periods - When the unit is not used, tum the power off.When left unused for a long period of time, the unit should beunplugged from the household AC outlet.

1. Outdoor Antenna Grounding -- If an outside antenna is con-
nected to the receiver, be sure the antenna system is groundedso as to provide some protection against voltage surges andbuUt-up static charges. Section 810 of the National ElectricalCode, ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1990, provides information with re-
spect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure,grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, sizeof grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit,connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for thegrounding electrode. See figure below.

Placement
1. Ventilation - The unit should be situated so that its location or
position does not intedere with its proper ventilation. Allow 10 cm(4") clearance from the rear of the unit.
2. Foreign Material -- Care should be taken so that objects do notfall into and liquids are not spilled into the unit. Do not subject thisunit to excessive smoke, dust, mechanical vibration, or shock.
3. Magnetism - The unit should be situated away from equipmentor devices that generate strong magnetic fields.
4. Stacking - Do not place heavy objects, other than system com-ponents, on top of the unit.
5. Surface - Place the unit on a flat, level surface.6. Carts and Stands - The unit should be used only with a cad or
stand that is recommended by the manufacturer. The unit andcad combination should be moved with care. ._Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven sur-faces may cause the unit and cart combination tooverturn.
7. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The unit should not be mounted to awall or ceiling, unless specified in this operating instructions.

Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a soft cloth lightly moist-
ened with mild detergent solution.
Do not use any type o! abrasive pad, scouring powder or solventsuch as alcohol or benzine.
Service
1. Damage Requiring Service -- The unit should be serviced byqualified service personnel when:(a) The AC power supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or(b) Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the
unit; or(c) The unit has been exposed to rain; or(d) The unit does not appear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change in performance; or(e) The unit has been dR)pped, or the enclosure damaged.
2. Servicing -- The user should not attempt to service the unitbeyond that described in the operating instructions. All other ser-vicing should be referred to authorized service personnel.(Only for U.S.A.)Call 1-800-545-2672 for the address of an authorized factoryservicenter.
Cautions on moving the CD changerBefore moving the changer to another location, be sure toremove all discs from the slots and turn off the changer.
Failure to do so will expose the compact discs and the changerto the risk ol severe damage.
CAUTION
The changer mechanism automatically locks when power isturned off, to protect it against damage in transport.Therefore, always press POWER and make sure "OFF" appearson the display before you unplug the changer.

The illustration below is an example when enjoying Dolby Pro LogicSurround system and SFC function.
The listening position at which the effect is the greatest is a positionslightly to the rear of a center position of five-speaker systems.However the position should be adjusted to your personal prefer-
ence, because the effect varies to some degree depending uponthe source.

The sound reproduced by a speaker is easily influenced by suchfactors as room acoustics and the system's location in the room.Before finally deciding where the speakers are to be placed, pleaseread the following information carefully,• The bass sound will be increased if the speakers are placed on
the floor or close to a wall due to the reflection of sound.
It is therefore possible to adjust the bass sound to some extent byadjusting the speaker's distance from the wall and/or floor.
• Undesirable resonance or sound reflection will occur if the speak-era face a hard wall or window. Curtains or similar materials canbe used to prevent these reflections.
• To prevent possible acoustic feedback the speaker system shouldbe kept away from the turntable. Feedback (howling) can resultfrom vibrations from the speakers.
• Keep the speakers away from sources of heat, high humidity anddirect sunlight.
Note for front/center speakersThese speakers are made so as to be able to be used in close
proximity to the TV, but irregular coloring may result due to how thesystem is placed, If such distortion occurs, rum off the TV for some-
time between 15 and 30 minutes, The demagnetizing function of theTV will eliminate the distortion, If the irregular coloring is still visible,then move the speakers further away from the "IV,Please note that if there is a magnetic object near the TV, irregularcoloring may result due to the interaction between the TV and thespeaker,

Battery installation

• Thoroughly clean the battery compartment before inserting newbatteries.
• Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types(carbon and alkaline, etc.)
• If you will not use the remote control for a long period of time,remove the batteries and store them in a cool, dark place.
• Do not use rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) type batteries.• Do not attempt to recharge alkaline or carbon batteries.• Always remove old, weak or worn-out batteries promptly and dis-
pose of them properly.• Never subject batteries to excessive heat or flame; do not attempt
to disassemble them; and b_ sure they are not short-circuitad.
• If the leaking electrolyte comes into contact with skin or clothes,flush with water immediately.
Battery life
Battery life is about one year.

How is presetting done?The two following methods are available.• Automatic memory presetting
Automatic memory presetting allows this unit to automaticallysearch for broadcast stations and then preset them into mem-

Your changer comes with a notebook-like binder (liner notes orga-nizer) in which you can keep your CD liners. There are also adhe-sive numbers for indicating slet numbers in the binder. This is aconvenient way to keep track of what disc is in what slot.

Sometimes, you want to block off your CDs into groups. For exam-pie, by the type of music, or your favorite CDs, etc. Well, this chang-er lets you make up to five groups, A through E. Basically, it's likedropping a disc into a box, then playing just discs from that box.
What's more, you can name the groups with any of the preset

Handling precautions
To open the compact disc case, gently press the sides of the topand pull up.To remove the disc from the case, press the center holder and liftthe disc, holding by the edges.

Hold compact discs by the edges so as not to soil the surface with
fingerprints. Fingerprints, dirt and scratches can cause skipping anddistortion.
Do not use record cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static electrici-ty prevention liquids or any other solvent on a disc.
If the surface is soiled, wipe gently with a soft, damp (water only)cloth.
Always move the cloth directly outward from the center of the disc,not in a circular motion as with standard phonograph records.

Several types of head demagnetizers are available and may be pur-chased separately at local electronics supply stores.Follow the instructions that are supplied with the device.
