1 Installation
This chapter provides information for the installation of E5070B/E5071B adjustment program.

InstallationWarm-up for Performance Test
Warm-up for Performance TestAllow the E5070B/E5071B to warm up for at least 30 minutes before you execute any of the adjustments.
Required EquipmentThe required test equipment for the adjustments is listed in Table 1-1. Use only calibrated equipment when adjusting the E5070B/E5071B.

InstallationPreparation for using the Adjustment Program
Preparation for using the Adjustment ProgramTo use the Adjustment Program, some preparation is required. This section describes how to proceed.
Required Controller
The following controller system is required to run the performance test program.
Windows PC PC-AT Compatible, RAM:�64MBytes, CPU Pentium 200 MHz or faster, HDD: 10 Mbytes or move free space
OS Microsoft� Windows NT� (4.0), Windows 95�, Windows 98�, Windows 2000�
Software Agilent VEE (Rev 5.0x or 6.0x)
GPIB Card 82350A, 82340B, 82341C/D
Installing a GPIB Card (82341C/D or 82350A)
Install a GPIB Card into your computer (see the GPIB Card manuals). The select code of the GPIB Card should be set to “7”.
Installing Agilent VEE for Personal Computer
Install the Agilent VEE (Rev 5.0x or 6.0x) into your computer (see the Agilent VEE manuals).
Installing Adjustment Program into Your PC
Step 1. Make a copy of the E5070B/E5071B adjustment program named ADJE507071B.EXE in a directory of the hard disk drive in your PC.
Step 2. Double-click on the filename on the Windows’ Explorer to start extracting the self-extracting achieve.
Step 3. You will be prompted to enter folder name for installing the program files. Enter the folder name, then click on UNZIP. The default folder is C:\ADJE507071B

Step 4. Confirm the message that you have successfully extracted the files and click OK and

Equipment Setup
Performing adjustments requires the system described in this section. The Hardware Setup is shown in Figure 1-3.

Setting Talker/Listener GPIB address of the E5070B/E5071B
To control the E5070B/E5071B in the adjustment program, the talker/listener GPIB address must be set. Check and set the GPIB address according to the following procedure.
Step 1. Press - Misc Setup - GPIB Setup - Talker/Listener Address. If the address “17” has not been set, proceed to the next step.
Step 2. Enter the GPIB address “17” using the ENTRY block keys on the front panel.
Registering Power Sensor Calibration Data
The calibration data of the 8482A power sensor must be registered before running the adjustment program. Execute the Agilent EditCal Calibration Factor Editor to register it.
Step 1. Start the EditCal to click on Start button, Programs and Agilent EditCal on Windows.
Step 2. The top window appears as shown in Figure 1-4. Choose Calibration Data, then press Start.

Step 3. The calibration data menu appears as shown in Figure 1-5. Choose 8482A and the serial number to edit, then click on Edit. If the serial number is not registered, Click on Add and choose 8482A.

Step 4. The 8482A calibration data window appears as shown in Figure 1-6. Input the following items and click on OK.
• Serial number (for addition)• Calibration Date• Calibration Due Date• Calibration Data
NOTE Delete the calibration points which are not described on the calibration report because the adjustment program interpolates the calibration factor for the frequency which calibration factor is not registered.

How to perform the E5070B/E5071B Adjustment Program
Step 1. Start the Agilent VEE (Rev 5.0x or 6.0x).
Step 2. Load the adjustment program file into the Agilent VEE as follows.
1. Pull down the File menu from the Agilent VEE window and select Open.
2. Navigate to the folder that the program installed, then choose ADJE507071B.VEE and click Open.
Step 3. You may be asked to add drivers for the equipment during the program loading. Click on OK and the GPIB address for each equipment. Enter 0 as the address for each equipment which is not used for the adjustment. (See Figure 2-1).

Step 4. The main window appears as shown in Figure 2-2. Click on START button to proceed.

Step 5. The ETE Configuration window menu appears as shown in Figure 2-3. Input all columns

and click on Next.
NOTE The Home Directory means the directory where ADJE507071B.VEE is stored.

Step 6. The Emvironment window appears as shown in Figure 2-4. Input the data and click on NEXT STEP.

Step 7. The main menu appears as shown in Figure 2-5. The description of the button on the window is described in Table 2-1.

Item Description
All Adjustment Performs all adjustment items. After pushing this button, the program checks connection of ETE and start adjustment.
Spot Adjustment Performs a part of adjustment items according to the replaced assembly. After pushing this button, the program proceed to Step 8.

Step 8. The spot adjustment menu appears as shown in Figure 2-6 when you pushing Spot Adjustment. After clicking on a button, The adjustment items is performed according to the replaced assembly. Refer to Table 2-2 for detail.
NOTE Execute "All Adjustment” if two or more spot adjustment items are selected.

Input Environment Data Show the environment Information window. After this button, the program proceeds to Step 6.
Program End Quits the adjustment program.

This area shows the summary of the results. The information displayed in each column is described in Table 2-3.
