• 5-6 hour session- “Inclusive Practices in the Arts”
Inclusive Practices in the Arts
This workshop is designed to provide a hands-on approach to learning about
differentiated instruction and how to accommodate learners of all
abilities. Participants will gain a sense of excitement and renewed energy, as
well as practical skills on how to use the arts to inspire learning in the
classroom and to include students with disabilities in arts programs.
• Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction in the Arts
• Accommodations and Behaviors
• Making Adaptive Art Tools
• Hands On Break Out Sessions- Visual Art or Music
May have a fee involved depending on travel or bringing an additional
presenter

Student of the Month
• Honors students who exemplify outstanding
work, personal achievement, or leadership
in the arts.
• Two students selected each month during
school year
• Winning students will be featured on the
VSAFL website and in our monthly
newsletter
• Winners receive a $25 gift card and
personalized award presented at an awards
ceremony

Florida Young Soloist
• Annual adjudicated statewide contest. Deadline usually in January.
• Finalists selected by a panel of judges are given a chance to perform at a
professional venue to be determined each year
• Finalists represent Florida by having their musical entries sent to Washington,
DC to compete in the VSA International Young Soloist Program

What is a teaching artist?
A teaching artist is a professional who has the experience and knowledge to
teach their craft to students and adults with various disabilities in a school setting,
Department of Juvenile Justice facility, or adult program.
Qualifications for teaching artists:
• Ability to work with students and/or adults with various disabilities
• Effective use of accommodations and modifications
• Ability to use Florida Standards to create appropriate lessons that relate to
classroom curriculum
• Ability to effectively teach the art form in which you indicate proficiency
• Reliable form of transportation
• Must submit and pass a background check
