DEVELOPING FISHING FLEET

• “The government always wants fishermen to have more modern and safer fishing boats, so it has supported this pilot manufacturing program with a specific financial mechanism” - PM Nguyen Tan Dung

• Decree 67/2014 for fisheries development: support for fishermen and docks- preferential interest rate bank - loans equivalent to 95% of the total cost - funds to cover all insurance fees, purchase fishing equipment and get training in ship operation, ship design and maintenance

• 130,000 fishing boats • 25,000 fishing boats with a

capacity of 90 CV or higher• range of only 50 nautical

miles from the shore• some fishing boats with a

capacity higher than 400 CV with simple equipment
