OPPORTUNITY PROFILE HEAD OF SCHOOL
CORAL SPRINGS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA
2013
Page 2
Dear Prospective Head of School Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in exploring the Head of School opportunity at Coral Springs Christian Academy.
Our desire is that this Opportunity Profile will offer you a comprehensive first glance at our school and the
key characteristics needed in our next leader. We are seeking a Head of School who will continue to build a
strong, college preparatory program which will equip our next generation’s leaders with a biblical world
view.
First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs was started over 40 years ago as a mission church of D. James
Kennedy’s Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. The city of Coral Springs was a new planned
community that attracted many professionals and thrived as a family-focused community. The church started
the preschool in 1971, subsequently building
the elementary and middle school programs.
In 1997 the high school program was added.
Today, the PK3-12 school is a ministry of
First Presbyterian Church. CSCA is uniquely
positioned in the city of Coral Springs - no
other faith-based PK3-12 schools exist in the
city. In this highly-educated, professional, and
culturally diverse community, CSCA has
remained competitive, despite the economic
challenges in recent years.
As we look to the future, we seek a leader
who is uniquely gifted to set us apart
academically in the faith-based community.
Coral Springs Christian Academy is a family
environment with significant achievement in the arts, academic, and sports programs, combining to produce
a well-rounded approach to learning. With enrollment currently almost 650, strategic enrollment growth will
allow for investments in facilities and technology, keeping CSCA competitive for years to come.
I encourage you to read through the opportunity profile and to further explore our website for additional
information. If you sense you are a fit for this opportunity, please contact Laura Coverstone (615-261-4623)
or Ed Poff (860-983-0367), the SIMA® International consultants who are facilitating the search process for
Coral Springs Christian Academy.
Sincerely, William H. Ryan Board Chair

INTRODUCTION Founded over 40 years ago, Coral Springs Christian Academy was established in 1971 as an outreach ministry
of First Presbyterian Continuing Church of Coral Springs, Inc. (“FPC”). Since its inception as a preschool and
elementary school, CSCA has continued to prosper and develop into a fully accredited, full-service college
preparatory academy serving almost 650 students and 480 families in a PK3-12th grade setting. The school
offers a biblically integrated, Christ-centered college preparatory curriculum in the greater Fort Lauderdale
area.
Coral Springs Christian Academy is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI),
the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS), AdvancEd (previously SACS), and the Florida Kindergarten
Council (FKC). Small classes and strong Christian faculty create a safe and dynamic learning environment for
students. Outside the classroom, students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including
athletics, the visual and performing arts, and a strong curriculum enhancement program.
The Head of School of Coral Springs Christian Academy serves as the
chief executive and chief academic officer of the school, providing
leadership for 85 employees, almost 650 students, and three
administrative directors. The role also involves stewardship of the
school’s operating budgets totaling over $6 million.
The current opportunities for the next Head of School are similar to
many Christian schools around the country, centering on facility
upgrades, enrollment, and technology investments. The current campus has a capacity of approximately 800,
so the ability to grow the student population certainly exists. The school program is currently 100% funded
by school tuition. The property debt service of the church/school will be eliminated with the sale of a large
piece of church property. Currently structured as a ministry of the church, the school is currently establishing
its own identity as a separate 501(c)(3). This will allow CSCA to continue to flourish in its specific mission as
a Christian school focused on high achievement in academics, fine arts, and athletics.
In recent years, Coral Springs Christian Academy has been laser-focused on enhancing the academic program
at all levels in the school. The curriculum has been extensively redeveloped. Faculty have studied and
implemented the most up-to-date and effective Christian pedagogical practices. Student assessment practices
have been synchronized to focus on essential skills as defined by the national core content standards. These
academic investments have resulted in significant gains in Stanford 10 and PLAN test scores. The number of
AP Exams passed has grown from 17 in 2009 to 49 in 2012. At the same time, extraordinary gains have been
made in CSCA’s fine arts and athletic programs, making it one of the most robust, well-rounded schools in the
area.
After serving Coral Springs for three years, Dr. Anthony Bryan felt called to a new opportunity, and former
Head of School Robert Clampett is serving as Interim Head of School. As the school begins this new chapter,
the next leader of CSCA will serve as the spiritual, academic, and executive leader of the school. It is key that
as both the church and school grow, the Head of School will optimize the relationship with the church and
maximize the resources therein. Active participation at FPC is essential.

THE VISION OF CORAL SPRINGS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
Coral Springs Christian Academy endeavors to instill in each student a Biblical worldview in order that they
may be prepared to serve the Lord in the twenty-first century.
THE MISSION OF CORAL SPRINGS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
Coral Springs Christian Academy ministers to students in a Christ-centered learning community which instills the vision and practice of excellence in academics, character, and service for God’s glory.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF CORAL SPRINGS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
In alignment with our Mission and Vision, CSCA has adopted three Guiding Principles which are foundational elements in the areas of academic, character-building, and service. These are:
1. Renewing Minds 2. Engaging Hearts 3. Transforming Culture
CORAL SPRINGS AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
The following statement of faith is embraced by all the staff and faculty of Coral Springs Christian Academy:
1. I believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inherent Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15, 2 Peter 1:21).
2. I believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
3. I believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His resurrection (John 11:25, I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).
4. I believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ, and that only by God’s grace through faith alone we are saved (John 3:16-19, 5:24, Romans 3:23, 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5).
5. I believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29).
6. I believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28).
7. I believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).
Additionally, all Bible department faculty and administration employed by Coral Springs Christian Academy must subscribe to the Reformed faith and that system of doctrine as set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith, and be members in good standing at FPC.

DISCIPLESHIP At Coral Springs Christian Academy, each class opens in prayer and is taught with a Christian worldview.
Students are challenged daily in their Bible classes and weekly in Chapel services. CSCA sets a high priority on
every student leaving CSCA with a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Chapel
Each chapel service consists of a time of singing praises to God, led by the student band, and also time in the
Word of God. Chapels are overseen by CSCA’s Bible Department. Sermons are delivered by faculty, staff,
administration, FPC pastors, and guest speakers.
Mentoring Groups CSCA feels that one of the most important things students can have as Christians is a mentor, someone who will pour their life into students and teach them truths about God and His will for our lives. Each and every CSCA middle and high school student is joined with a Mentoring Group to help guide students’ growth in spiritual maturity. Each Mentoring Group has no more than 15 students, providing a small group setting where students can learn and grow in their faith. Each mentoring group is led by a staff member of CSCA or a spiritually mature high school student. Spiritual Emphasis Week Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) is an annual event for CSCA high school students. During this week, high
school students participate in daily chapel services and spiritual growth seminars. The daily chapels are
centered around a central theme and the lesson is chosen by our guest speaker for the week. Students
participate in three different seminars of their choosing, such as “Discerning God's Will for My Life,” “How Do
I Stay a Christian in College?,” “Our Identity in Christ,” “The Christian Athlete,” and “Purity.”
ATHLETICS Coral Springs Christian Academy strives to provide a Christ-centered, competitive atmosphere where success
is defined as doing your best for the good of the team. The athletic department believes extracurricular
activities are a privilege and that student athletes should be held to a high standard. Sportsmanship,
selflessness, and service to others are values that are stressed at every level of athletics at CSCA. Coral Springs
Christian Academy offers fourteen varsity level sports, as well as junior varsity and middle school level
sports. The athletic program has experienced tremendous success in a short period of time as ten of the
fourteen varsity sports have won at least one individual or team district championship.
