Fibre Optical Switch

Overview

UTEL can provide switches with 4, 8. 16, 32, 64 or 128 ports. The Switches can be daisy chained to expand the size

to 1024 ports or more. Limitations on switch sizes will depend on acceptable losses and access times required.

Extensive life testing has shown that these switches can perform more than 10 million operations without

significant degeneration of the optical path.

UTEL switches use a patented module to provide test access to Live fibres. Modules are available with WDM's or splitters asrequired. These can be "mix and matched" allowing different types of networks to accessed from one switch. Dark fibres canbe tested directly from the switch output port, the OTDR supports PON and Long line testing.
