Topic: A Blessed Hope Service: 8am & 10am Services

Speaker: Pastor David Wong (Zion Bishan BP Church)

Rooted in the Living Word Empowered by the Holy Spirit Abiding in Christ only Daring to Hope and to Love Yielding Fruit To God’s Glory

Welcome to Bethesda Frankel Estate Church “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn

from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.— Matthew 11: 28-29

Key Verses:

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly

passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope - the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. — (Titus 2:11-14)

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23

Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerlyfor our adoption to sonship, the redemption of

our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?

25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. — (Romans 8:22-25) I. Christmas: The End of Waiting

1. Waiting for Blessed Hope (Titus 2:11-14)

2. Waiting in Pains of Childbirth (Rom 8:22-25)

3. Waiting beyond This Life (Heb 11:13)

4. Waiting in Patient Ignorance (Mark 4:26-27)

II. Christmas: Not the End of Waiting Reflection Questions:

1. In what way is Christmas the end of waiting and yet not the end?

2. Why is waiting so hard? How is it a “necessary pause in time”?

3. What does “the mother of all waits” mean for Christ’s followers waiting to meet Christ one day?
