  • ************-- Briefly mention the Key additions and enhancements made in Oracle Application Express 3.0 **You can control the layout and the look of the Report generated using Report Templates. These templates may be either:RTF Templates Required Advanced Support (BI Publisher as the Report server)XSL-FO Templates Generic Template (XSL-FO) - This is available under the standard support and is available with Oracle Application Express 3.0 Also if, you have Choose Oracle BI Publisher as your report server, you can control the Report Output Formats and even add Charts etc. using the BI Publisher Word Template Builder

-- The Reports format can be set to various industry standard Document Formats- PDF - Word- Excel- HTML

*-- Create Application level Report Queries and associate custom Templates using the Reports Layout. These are available under Shared Components Section of the Application. -- Once created, you can even associate these additional reporting services to a button or label. So in effect, you can generate multiple report formats and access them from anywhere in the application. You are no longer limited to the Link associated with a Report.\

-- This would be a good place to build a Report Query&Layout. Use the EMP table for the query and then use the XML Publisher Word plugin to build the Layout(build a RTF Template). Use the report query and associate it with a button or list entry.

*-- New in Application Express. Select from a range of Flash Based Charts. Set attributes according to your specification.- General look and feels of the chart (Background Color, Chart Rotation, Labels/Legend Display)- Animation- Enable Asynchronous update of the Chart- You can either use the Declarative Interface to define the Chart Attributes, or alternatively Edit and Customize the Chart XML Template that controls the various Display parameters/attributes.*-- The Web-Services Component in APEX 3.0 has been improved dramatically. This has made it possible for us to support - Loosely Defined Web Services and even - Document style Web Services-These improvements have made it possible for us to extend our Web-Services integration with those defined by- Oracle J-Developer and - Oracles BPEL (Business Process Exec. Language- part of the BPM)--Another enhancement is the ability to reference Web-Services from behind a firewall and those requiring Authentication

--In case the APEX engine is not able to recognize the service based on the WSDL (Web services Definition Language) document then you can now manually create the Web-Service Reference by providing the necessary information (ex. SOAP request envelope, URL endpoint, etc.)

*-- Part of the WYSIWYG Feature enhancements that are being regularly included into Oracle Application Express. - Use the new Drag and Drop Item Creation wizard to place a new/existing item to the left/Right of an existing item.- You can insert a new row quickly & add items in the middle of an existing Form - To remove an item or row Just drag it into the recycle Bucket at the bottom of the Drag and Drop Layout Page -- Also, before you incorporate the changes and make them permanent, you would be asked to confirm the Changes to reduce the changes of any mistakes*-- This is ideal for Public/Static Pages or Pages whose contents are occasionally updated. You can set the duration for which the page or a region should be cached or you can even cache the page by User. - This would be ideal for something like your application home page that contains Static Text and/or Images - Typically each page view from the APEX Engine would result in a database operation. Enabling this feature on your page/region will be ideal to reduce this overhead.

--However, users should be aware that this should not be applied for pages/regions containing Access Controls(authentication/authorization) as it overrides the security check that you may have.

*--Oracle Application Express 3.0 Makes it easier to migrate from your existing MS-Access based application. The Access Migration Workshop allows user to - Migrate Access data and application definition - The Access Migration will not automate the task of Migration, but provides a declarative environment that allows you to do a design recovery on the existing MS-Access database. - Application migration performed in the APEX Environment - through web standard apex interfaces. No need to download additional software. - Allows users in a department etc. to utilize the power of information - Illustrates and enhances Oracle APEX for the department message - Provides sales opportunities; do you have an access problem?

How to Migrate in 7 easy Steps:Export Microsoft Access metadata. Run the Exporter for Microsoft Access and extract the metadata from the .mdb file. This creates database (.xml) and application (.sql) output files.Migrate the Microsoft Access database to Oracle. Run the Oracle Migration Workbench and load the database metadata from Step 1. This migrates the
