Configuration Options

• Accessing Financial Management data-sources from Financial Reporting components installed on 64-bit Windows environments:

o The Server/Cluster Registration entries must be manually populated in the Windows Registry.

o Steps to do this on 64-bit Windows machines where Financial Reporting components are installed:

After registering the Financial Management server using the HFM client/config utility, run regedit and export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Client\Clusters key.

Edit the .reg file and replace HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ and then double-click the .reg file to import it into the Windows Registry.

• When you install Financial Management, you configure it using Oracle’s Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Configurator. However, if you use the Financial Management Win32 client, or if you selected the ADM Client component during installation, you must register servers and clusters and enable DCOM using the Hyperion Financial Management Configuration Utility. This utility is selected by selecting the following program: Start->All Programs->Oracle EPM System->Financial Management->Client Configuration. Please see Help for each option. For information, see the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management Administrator’s Guide. (8208165)

• In the Financial Management Configuration utility, you cannot use the following special characters for cluster names: plus sign (+), asterisk (*), pound sign (#), brackets [. ], curly braces { }, parentheses ( ), semi-colon (;), colon (:), comma (,), at symbol (@), or exclamation mark (!). (8207605)

• In Financial Management 11.1.1.2, you can disable detailed error messages as follows:

1) In the HFM Win32 Client machine and Application Server registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management Create DWORD DisableTechnicalError

2) In the HFM Web Server machine registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Web Create DWORD DisableAspTechnicalErrorMessage

Set both of these keys to 0 to display the details of the technical error messages.

Set both of these keys to 1 to suppress the details of the technical error messages. (7454796)

Known Issues

The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

Page 3: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

3

Accessibility

• The buttons in the Financial Management content area are not accessible with keyboard shortcuts. Only the top level keyboard navigation, for example, integration with Workspace menus and toolbars, object palette, and accessing the Financial Management content area is supported.

Application

• If Financial Management is not properly shut down, temporary files may remain upon reboot. To ensure optimal performance, it is recommended that you delete all *.db.* file names from the Financial Management Server Working folder before launching Financial Management.

• If you do not allow enough space in the initial creation of the relational database tables (Oracle, MS SQL, or IBM DB2), you can create applications, but you cannot open or delete applications. Refer to your database guide when you create database tables. (21748)

• The application name has a maximum of either 10 characters or 12 bytes. (8211450)

• HFM, HSV, and HSX are reserved names and cannot be used for application names or application descriptions.

• The ampersand (&) is not a supported character for any label in an application.

• If you are using Financial Management and Planning on the same server, use a naming convention to differentiate the applications; for example, Corp_Actual and Corp_Budget.

• To execute Calculation logic on the Adjustment members of the Value dimension, the AllowAdjs entity attribute must be enabled. If this attribute is not enabled, it can prevent an entity from changing to a status of OK. Enabling this attribute allows the system to change the status for those members to OK.

• Financial Management’s EnumMembers2 API function was changed in release 4.0. A new parameter was added to specify an entity for retrieving dynamic member lists that vary by entity. If you are upgrading from Financial Management releases prior to 4.0 and have written custom software against the API, you must modify your use of the EnumMembers2 API function. To achieve the same functionality as prior Financial Management releases, use a -1 for the lEntity parameter in the EnumMembers2 function. See the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management Fusion Edition Object Guide for more information.

• You may encounter an issue with not being able to open applications with certain MBCS naming patterns on Oracle 10g and Oracle 9i. In Oracle versions 9 and 10, a change was made for double-byte characters. Double-byte characters require two bytes to be stored in Oracle 9. This means that an nvarchar2 field that is ten characters in size will not support ten double-byte characters. Thus a user cannot create applications with more than 5 international characters.

• When using an IBM DB2 database, double-byte characters in application names are only supported with DB2 8.1 FP10 and 8.2 FP3.

• If yellow triangles display when you are trying to create an application, ensure that Shared Services is running or that the connection is established.

• To access Financial Management Administrator menu items and functions in Workspace, you must be assigned these security roles: Creator Group and Dimension Editor.

• In Financial Management 11.1.1, you must be assigned the Project Manager global security role to delete a Financial Management application in both Classic Application Administration and EPMA. If you do not have the Project Manager role, the application does not delete successfully.

• If you are using an Oracle database, certain characters in the Financial Management application name may prevent you from creating applications. Do not use the Turkish “i” or the German “sharp ess” in an application name. (7638942)

Application Server

• To use the application server cluster feature for load balancing, you must enable multi-server support.

Calculation Manager

• When you import a .cmo file with a block condition into Calculation Manager, the block condition is not checked for errors. Although the only possible values for the Condition field are IF, ELSE, ELSE If, you can import other incorrect values for this field. In addition, if the block condition has comments, they are not imported when you import a .cmo file. (6900305)

• For the IFRS Sample application, you should load the "df_data_2006_ss_gw_mc.dat" and "df_data_2007_ss_gw_mc.dat" as test data files instead of the "df_data_2006_ss_gw.dat" and "df_data_2007_ss_gw.dat".

• User-defined member lists are not available in the dropdown list when used within the Function Selector. (7292692) You cannot select or manually enter the member list function name in the Function Selector dropdown list. You must manually enter the member list function name within the member range or data range object itself.

If you want member lists to display in the Function Selector, you can modify the CalcMgrconfig properties file as follows:

Navigate to the CalcMgrConfig.properties file located under the CalcMgr Web application (under WEB-INF\conf).

You should uncomment the following line:

#HFM_LIST_URL=http://<server_name>/hfm/EIE/EIEListener.asp

and replace the <server name> with the HFM cluster name. If the replaced URL is not a valid URL, the user-defined lists will not be available for you to select in the Calc Manager Function Selector where a List is expected as an argument.

• When you install the latest Microsoft patch, you may not be able to select right-click and main menu options, and focus the mouse, in Calculation Manager with Internet Explorer, version 6. To work around this, press ALT+Tab to make another program active, and press ALT+TAB again to make Calculation Manager active. (7501212)

• When you select a variable from the Financial Management Variable Selector within the Script Editor, the selected variable is displayed with curly braces { }. Since all calculation statements within the Script Editor must be valid Visual Basic syntax, you must ensure that any variables used inside the Script Editor are not referenced with curly braces. If they are, you must remove the curly braces from the selected variables. (6989655)

• The Financial Management Function Selector incorrectly prompts you for a parameter when you select the function @Value.Currency. You should not enter any parameters for the @Value.Currency function. (7205843)

• The Financial Management Data Range component incorrectly allows you to specify a member list as the value for the following dimensions: Scenario, Year, Period, Entity, Value, and View. This generates an error during deployment, because the HS.OpenDataUnit function does not support multiple data cubes. (7188931)

• When you use the Variable Selector within a template, you can only select design time prompt variables. You cannot select replacement or execution variables from the Variable Selector if you use it from within a template (7176456)

Page 5: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

5

• Errors are generated during deployment if you deploy a ruleset containing a recursive rule. (7174248)

• To correctly reference the variables defined in Financial Management system templates for Calculation Manager, import the Global_Variables.xml file before you use any of the system templates in business rules. The Global_Variables.xml file is in \Sample Apps\Templates.

• When you import Global_Variables.xml, the appropriate replacement and execution variables are created in the Global folder. If you want these variables to be available to your application, copy them to your specific application folder. If these variables are in the Global folder only, they are available to all applications.

• If you try to import a file with an invalid file name and an .xml, .csc, .rle, or .cmo extension, the Loading icon hangs and an invalid file error message is not displayed. (7143284)

• When using the member selector with the Value dimension, only the default members <Entity Currency> through [Contribution Total] are listed. To use a member of a currency triplet (for example, USD, USD Adj or USD Total), you must type it into the action box.

Data Audit

• The filter functionality is not operable in Data Audit. Specific members may be typed into the filter boxes. (8252406)

Document Manager

• Financial Management prevents users from loading a custom document in override mode with the same name as a document already loaded but with a security class to which they do not have access. The error message does not clearly state the reason of the failure: “Failed Security error: user does not have All access.”

• A text document (*.txt) containing German keyboard characters does not retain its original contents after it is loaded into a Financial Management application. You must extract the files and view them in your native viewer (for example, Notepad or Wordpad).

• Special characters in document names (@, ., #,(),$,%,&) cause load failures or truncated file names.

Extended Analytics

• If you are using an Oracle database and Extended Analytics, the Oracle ODBC driver must be installed. ODBC is required in addition to OLE DB Provider, and ODBC may not be installed by default when you install OLE DB Provider.

• Star schemas created in earlier versions of Financial Management (Release 3.0.3 and 3.0.2a) are not available for update with this release. New information, such as member descriptions, user-defined fields, and account types are now included in the Extended Analytics export. These changes result in new columns that are added to the dimension tables in the star schema, which make the old tables incompatible.

• Cell text and line item detail are not written to the star schema. (117201)

• An issue arises with export/import of metadata from Financial Management to a Hyperion Essbase database, through Integration Services. Extended Analytics doesn’t pick up metadata in the same order that metadata appears in the Financial Management application because of an additional field for Financial member order, which is missing.

• If you are using Microsoft SQL Server as a target database for the Extended Analytics module, an issue may arise when the default language on the DBMS and Application Servers is Turkish. If a database user name stored in the Extended Analytics target UDL file contains the letter “I”, Extended Analytics extracts fail. One workaround is to use a username that does not contain the

Page 6: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

6

letter “I”. If the DBMS username must contain the letter I, you must edit the registry on all Financial Management Application Servers as follows:

Set the value of the EAUseODBC registry entry to a value of zero (0). If this registry value does not exist in the system, create it and assign the value of 0. This forces the Extended Analytics module to use ADO connectivity instead of ODBC to connect to the target DBMS.

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\Server Value Name: EAUseODBC Value Type: DWORD Value: 0 (Defect 1-87485290)

Installation

For known installation and configuration issues, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Readme.

Intercompany Transaction Module

• Asynchronized processing support – The following processes support asynchronized processing: Load Transactions, Auto-Match, Post All, UnPost All, UnMatch All, Delete All, Matching Report by ID, Matching Report by Account, and Transaction Report.

Each of the processes is recorded in the Running Task window, enabling you to view the progress of each process as well as to stop the task. You can also select the log from the Running Task window to view the status information after the process is completed.

You must refresh the Process IC Transaction screen to view the updated status information after these processes: Post All, UnPost All, UnMatch All, Delete All. After you click OK when the Refresh message displays, and run the process, to refresh the status in the Process IC Transaction screen, click the Update button again and the status will be refreshed.

• Matching Report and Transaction Report – To view either the Matching Report or the Transaction Report, you must click the report icon next to the Report task recorded in the Running Task Window after the process is completed.

• Matching Report processing – The processing of the matching report is driven by the Entity’s transactions. Therefore, if the Entity does not have a transaction with the Partner but the Partner has a transaction with the Entity, the Partner transaction is not captured in the matching report. In order for this transaction to be processed, you must specify the Partner entity in the Entity selection.

• Auto-Match by Account – The auto-match by account process performs the matching of transactions based on the selection for the Entity and the Entity Account. For example, suppose you have the following four transactions for matching:

A ICRec B

B ICPay A

B ICRec A

A ICPay B

If your matching selection is Entity = A, Partner = <blank> for all partners, and if your matching accounts are ICRec with ICPay, the system will use the selection for Entity and Entity Account as the basis for matching. Hence, the system will match based on Entity A and Account ICRec. The result from this matching process will return ONE match group.

A ICRec B

B ICPay A

Page 7: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

7

If you would like the system to also match A’s ICpay with B, you will need to also specify another matching account set of ICPay with ICRec. Another option is to include B in the Entity selection so that the system will also process the transaction of B ICRec with A and also includes the following matching group.

B ICRec A

A ICPay B

• Matching Report by Account – The Matching Report by Account will not include the reversed matching. The process is assume that the “suppress reversed” option is ON by default. For example, if you have the following transactions in the system:

A ICRec B

B ICPay A

B ICRec A

A ICPay B

If your report selection is Entity = A, Partner = <blank> for all partners, and if your matching accounts are ICRec with ICPay, the system uses the selection for Entity and Entity Account as the base for the matching report.

Thus, the system matches based on Entity A and Account ICRec. The result from this matching report process displays ONE match group.

A ICRec B

B ICPay A

If you would like the system to also match A’s ICpay with B, you will need to also specify another matching account set of ICPay with ICRec. Another option is to include B in the Entity selection so that the system will also process the transaction of B ICRec with A and hence will also include the following matching group.

B ICRec A

A ICPay B

• IC Transaction Detail Report – This report provides the transaction information in the format specified by the user in the report layout. However, the system always sorts the transactions by the Entity and Partner field first and then applies sorting to other fields specified by the user. This issue will be addressed in future release.

• Process IC Transaction – When you first enter the Process IC Transaction screen, you will see the vertical scroll bar to your right and the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom. This vertical scroll bar controls the scrolling for the browser page. However, if you want to control the vertical scrolling for the transactions that are displayed in the IC transactions grid, you will need to use the horizontal scroll bar to scroll to the right and you should see the vertical scroll bar that controls the transaction grid.

• Load Transactions – During the Load IC Transactions process, the system allows you to first scan the load file for potential errors. However, upon completion of the scan process, the system must refresh the load screen and clear the file name that you previously specified. This is the same behavior in all other load processes in Financial Management and it will not be addressed in the release. You must reselect the load file after the completion of the scan process if you want to continue with the load transactions process.

• Error Messages - The system may not provide appropriate error messages in some processes performed in the IC Transactions module. For example, during the “Delete All” process, the system does not provide a valid error message when there are Matched or Posted transactions. However, the system correctly skips over the Matched or Posted transactions during the Delete process.

Page 8: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

8

• Windows 2003 – You may experience a timeout error when you run very large Matching reports on Windows 2003.

• You cannot load ICT transactions using a Turkish operating system.

• Email notifications within Process Intercompany Transactions do not include all the dimensional details within the body of the notification.

Folders

• These characters are not supported when used in the name field for folders: “ ‘ : ; <>.

Journals

• In Organization by Period applications, if you select inactive child-parent combinations, an "invalid parent or child/parent combination" or "invalid entity" error message is displayed.

• When you assign security rights to users for journal creation, you should assign users access to Create Journals and Read Journals.

• Oracle database is case-sensitive for Journal Group names.

• There is an inconsistency for accepting field lengths that are too long in journals.

• The filtering for journal templates within journal tasks is not operational for sorting of entities. (8215939) (3-117324)

Load

• If an invalid member list is loaded, Web users may not be able to access the Data Explorer grid. If the following error message is displayed, it is recommended that you correct the member list, reload it, and then access the Data Explorer grid: (29570)

"Type Mismatch /hfm/Data/ExploreData.asp. Error Number 13. Error Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error"

• On Windows 2003 with no Service pack, you do not receive a confirmation message when a load is successful. You can review the log, but no message is displayed. This limitation does not exist with Windows 2003 SP1.

• For a data load, if you have Autoclose selected for the progress window, there is no opportunity to review the load file log after the Load window closes. You can view the results in the progress window immediately after the load completion.

• The “#” character is not a supported delimiter for load files. Support for this character is improperly stated within the Administration documentation. (8-629739351)

• When loading a metadata .APP file from an older release through the Web, the error log may indicate the improper line number within the error message. (8-611733207)

• The Web may report a proxy timeout issue when loading large application files that have not been converted to the latest schema formats. If the files are converted to the latest file formats using the Win32 client, the updated files will load on the Web.

• If you receive a proxy timeout error when loading large files, increase the Web proxy timeout or use the Win32 client to load the file.

Loading Zeros to an Application

Loading to or calculating zeros in a Financial Management application is not recommended. Zeros are stored as data, which increases the database size and can affect performance. It is recommended that only numeric information, such as 1000, be stored in Financial Management.

Page 9: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

Localization

• For all localized Financial Management applications where the data contains Unicode characters, make sure to set “Exact all files in Unicode format” preferences for those applications. To set this preference:

1. Log on to Workspace.

2. From the File menu, select Preferences.

3. Select Consolidation.

4. From the drop-down list, select the application.

5. Make sure that this option is selected: Extract Option – Save all files in Unicode format.

6. Click Save. (7674524)

• When you perform an LCM export operation on a Financial Management application, if the exported content is incorrect and Unicode characters are removed, make sure that Save all files in Unicode format is set for the source application. (7659574)

• When you are using Process Control, an error is returned when you select the Rates icon in a localized version. The User Guide indicates that a predefined "Rates" grid must be created if you want to access "Rates" from Process Control. If localized, the "Rates" grid must be named using the localized string in order for the grid to be accessible.

• In the Financial Management Configuration Utility, when you specify the cluster name, you cannot use these special characters: + * # [ ] { } ( ) ; : , @ !

Metadata

A metadata load from an earlier version may not work and return a blank page.

To fix this, manually run the following command from command line on the Web Server machine: regsvr32 %HHYPERION_HOME%\products\FinancialManagement\Client\HsvMetadataXML.dll.

Metadata Synchronizations

Shared Services no longer supports metadata synchronization. To share dimensions (hierarchies) with Financial Management and Planning, use EPMA functionality.

Oracle Databases

To improve performance in Oracle, the DBA should run statistics on the ICTTransactions table. There are a variety of utilities and commands available to perform this task. Following is a sample of one of the commands that you can use: ANALYZE TABLE APPNAME_ICT_TRANSACTIONS COMPUTE STATISTICS

Performance Management Architect

• The number of Excluded Members displayed when selecting Show Excluded Members is currently limited to 1,000. (7646174, 8240849)

• When deleting a branch with transactions that are generated in Performance Management Architect, the transactions are not cleaned up as they were in release 9.3.1.x. (8235072, 8210763)

• When opening an Excel file created by the Performance Management Architect File Generator Utility, a new menu called "EPMA Utilities" is visible in Excel. However, this menu does not appear

Page 10: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

10

in localized versions of Excel (both 2003 and 2007). Installing the English language pack (the Microsoft Multilingual Interface Pack for Office 2003) resolves the issue, and the menu appears. (8274293, 8275968)

• Database locks are not released after importing metadata (.ads-file) into the Performance Management Architect Shared Library when the "Merge as Shared" option is not selected. As a result, subsequent deployment of applications is only possible after locks have been released manually or Performance Management Architect services have been restarted. (8330660, 8331288)

• After duplicating an application to a new application in Performance Management Architect, the metadata in the new application does not match the source application. For example, members which were flagged as a "Base Member" in the source application are not Base Members in the new application. (8231101)

• Load in new Aliases (assigned to new members) that were previously assigned to other members in Performance Management Architect with the Replace option fails on validation. Old aliases are not cleared before new assignments are loaded. (8307946, 8308043)

• Errors may occur when importing dimensions into the Shared Library when a parent dimension is written in a case-insensitive manner. For Example: Total_employees versus Total_Employees. (8330766)

• In some cases, an error occurs when loading interface tables into Performance Management Architect. To work around the problem, delete the existing dimensions in the Shared library when errors are flagged from the interface table dimensions and use the "Replace" option to overwrite the faulty members in the existing Shared Library dimensions. (8230035)

• If your local and regional settings are set to the Russian language and you run a ‘create application’ command using the Performance Management Architect Batch Client the application name that is created is an invalid application name. (8278282)

• When upgrading from 9.3.0.3 to 11.1.1.2, a number of errors are posted to the config log. For example: “Error while calling processForUpgrade(): Error registering/retrieving the instance file. Root cause: Warning! Resource does not exist.” (8207132, 8297371)

• CLU logs should display information regarding why artifact migration from Performance Management Architect has failed but is currently not displaying any information. (8234310)

• Ensure that you do not create a Calculation Manager rule that has one or more spaces, otherwise the deployment of a Performance Management Architect application will fail. (7520224)

• If you delete a member with children and select 'Delete All Descendants' and 'Remove all Instances' an error occurs indicating that you cannot remove a member that has children. The problem only occurs when the ‘Remove all Instances’ option is selected. (7390039)

• When an existing interface table data source is edited, and the administrator selects Yes to "Existing tables will be deleted,” the dialog box should indicate which tables will be deleted. (8-534819278) (7429393)

• If an application validation results in warnings and no errors, you may not be able to deploy the application using the application creation wizard even though it does not show details of the validation warnings. One scenario where this can occur is where members have the same member

Page 11: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

11

name as the Alias name. In this case, click Finish to close the application creation wizard and deploy the application using the Application Library. (8298511)

• When using OAM (Oracle Access Manager) and OID (Oracle Internet Directory) as well as SSL, the following error may occur intermittently when you attempt to open a log file attachment in the Job Console. (7449246)

“Internet Explorer cannot download [attachment name]. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.”

• The filtering options of the “select top member” dialog box are not retained when the action is invoked subsequently. All the selections are shown as “Member” irrespective the option chosen in the original selection (Descendants, Children, Member). (7282233)

• If you set the language in Internet Explorer 6.0 to Portuguese (Portugal) [pt], and attempt to import an *.ads file in Performance Management Architect, errors can occur. For best results, save the .ads files in UTF-8 format. Also make sure all the sections are replaced properly as well. (7676366)

• When using Performance Management Architect on a Turkish operating system, users will have to set the JVM locale to English for Performance Management Architect to function properly. (8266973)

• Users may experience problems when creating applications with Turkish dotless i character in the application name when using an Oracle or DB2 database. You should avoid using the Turkish dotless i in the application name. (7834482)

• When a user detaches a dimension from the Shared Library and chooses not to retain the filters and overrides, Performance Management Architect may still retain the filtered structure. In this scenario, users can synchronize the local dimension with the shared dimension to obtain all the previously omitted members. (8267428)

• When exporting dimensions that have Dimension Readers or Dimension Writers defined with more than one user or group, users can experience problems importing the exported packages. Users can perform one of the following steps to work around the problem:

o Remove the users or groups from the exported *.ads files before importing.

o Add the line continuation character '_' at the end of each line where users or groups are written out in the file.

o Clear dimension readers/writers properties before exporting. (8294692)

• Unable to export or migrate applications when using WebLogic 9.2. This problem exists if WebLogic is unable to find the \temp folder. For example, C:\DOCUME~1\sbettage\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\sbettage\servers\EPMAWebServer\tmp\_WL_user\awb\vj1hri\public.

To resolve the problem, restart the WebLogic server. (7645468)

• The following error may be displayed when starting Performance Management Architect services on an Oracle database: (8-521313291, 6566622)

“Service cannot be started. System.Exception: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater."

A. To fix the problem, provide authenticated users group privilege to the Oracle Home directory.

1. Log on to Windows as a user with Administrator privileges.

2. Start Window Explorer and navigate to the ORACLE_HOME folder.

3. Choose properties on the ORACLE_HOME folder.

4. Click the “Security” tab of the “Properties” window.

5. Click on “Authenticated Users” item in the “Name” list.

6. Uncheck the “Read and Execute” box in the “Permissions” list under the “Allow” column.

7. Re-check the “Read and Execute” box under the “Allow” column

8. Click the “Advanced” button and in the “Permission Entries” verify that “Authenticated Users” are listed with permission = “Read & Execute,” and Apply To = “This folder, subfolders and files.” If not, edit that line and make sure that “Apply To” drop-down box is set to “This folder, subfolders and files.” This should already be set properly but it is important that you verify it.

9. Click “Ok” until you close out all of the security properties windows. The cursor may present the hour glass for a few seconds as it applies the permissions you just changed to all subfolders and files.

10. Reboot to assure that the changes have taken effect.

• If you are using Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 with Performance Management Architect products, your system may experience an abnormal shutdown. To prevent this, install the update from Microsoft by going to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923996/. (No CR number)

• Insert Member is not a valid action for the Year dimension after an application has been deployed, even though it is available on the right-click menu. (8-506201634, 6562776)

• Oracle recommends that administrators do not delete an active job from the Library Job Console. In the case of a deployment, the deployment is halted, but the administrator cannot re-deploy the application until the timeout is exceeded. Eight hours is the timeout default, but this can be changed in the AwbConfig.properties setting (under awb.war WEB-INF/conf directory):

# App Deployment timeout DEPLOY_PENDING_TIMEOUT_MINUTES=4

• In the Performance Management Architect Batch Client you may receive a “file not found error,” or “access denied” error when you select an ADS import file from other machines on the network. Confirm that the security on the source directory has been set to allow access from a different node on the network. (7300617)

• You may experience issues starting Performance Management Architect services after upgrading a 9.3.1.x application to version 11.1.1.x of Performance Management Architect. One workaround is to reconfigure the 9.3.1.x system to not share databases, since the issue is related to using a shared database for Performance Management Architect/Shared Services/BI + and then upgrading this configuration to 11.1.1.x. (7190495)

• You may encounter issues using the Grid Editor with the intercompany dimension (ICP). Dynamic members from the Entity dimension will not be displayed in the member selector or the grid. (7343630)

• You may notice that the “clear filter criteria” icon in the Job Console is disabled after performing a filter of the Job Console. This icon is re-enabled after opening the job filter via the View > Filter menu option, or by using the shortcut key and applying a filter. (7304097)

• In some instances, the ability to delete multiple dimension members from a dimension in the Shared Library fails on the first attempt. You should be able to successfully delete members one at a time, or by selecting multiple members, and then deleting the members until the deletion is successful. (7372908)

• Planning or Consolidation applications containing extended or double-byte characters in dimension names may encounter issues when upgrading to 9.3.1.x and 11.1.x and using Enterprise Performance Management Architect. If your application contains ASCII + 127 or double-byte characters, please contact Oracle Support for assistance. Applications using Classic Administration are not affected. (No CR number)

13

• The Performance Management Architect File Generator is only available in English, it has not been translated. (8278731)

• When upgrading applications from 9.3.x to 11.1.1.x, application re-deployment fails. This occurs when there is a discrepancy between the instance information defined in the registry and the information that was defined for 9.3.1. This affects both mixed version setups and deployments where applications have been upgraded from 9.3.x to 11.1.1.x.

In the Performance Management Architect Deployment dialog box, users should select the instance from the Instance Name drop-down list. If there is a mismatch in the existing instance name list and the last deployed instance name the following error is displayed: “The instance selected by user is not the same as the previously deployed instance. Please select an appropriate instance.”

Users should be careful when deploying applications to ensure that they are deploying to the correct instance. Deployment will not be successful if the correct instance has not been chosen.

If necessary, an administrator can manually fix the instance information in the Performance Management Architect Object Repository table. See My Oracle Support (Metalink 3) note number 786514.1. (7436675)

• When an application is migrated, the alias values for the Period and View dimension are lost. When you redeploy the application, an error displays indicating that the Period and View dimension values have been changed, and the deployment fails. You should redefine the alias associations for these dimensions, and then redeploy. (7441470)

• When a Local Alias dimension in a Planning application is changed to Share and is merged with an existing Alias dimension in the Shared Library, the dimension associations are removed. The error displayed when trying to validate is: “Object reference not set to an instance of an object.” To work around the problem, import the .ads file to the application again to reestablish the dimension associations. (7441618)

Performance Management Architect Consolidation Applications

• Performance Management Architect allows the deployment of Financial Management applications with no ICP or Value dimensions. In release 9.3.1.x, Performance Management Architect does not include validations to ensure that there is an ICP or Value dimension in Consolidation applications. When attempting to perform data synchronization, an error occurs indicating that there are two missing target dimensions. (8209149)

• If you duplicate a deployed Consolidation application and then modify properties and attempt to redeploy the application the validation fails with the following error messages even if no changes were made to the Period and View dimensions.

Error: The '<period_dimension_name>' dimension has been modified since the first successful deployment of the application. See the Job Console to find out what has changed in this dimension since the first successful deployment of this application. Error: The '<view_dimension_name>' dimension has been modified since the first successful deployment of the application. See the Job Console to find out what has changed in this dimension since the first successful deployment of this application.

You should compare the application to the deployed application and ensure that any changes to the Period, View, Year, or Alias dimensions are reverted back. Common changes include the dimension’s DimensionAlias property and member’s Alias property values for the above dimensions. (7435214)

• Reordering child members is not supported for generated dimensions, such as ICP, View, Value, ICP and Alias in Consolidation applications. If you attempt to reorder system generated dimension children members the validation will fail upon deployment. Changes to those members will need to be reverted before attempting to validate the application. (7429202)

• The Application Creation wizard allows you to create applications with all local dimensions. However, in some cases, the wizard is not properly validating Consolidation applications, causing

Page 14: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

14

the deployment of the application to fail. If you use the Application Wizard to create a Consolidation application and choose to use all local dimensions, you must create members in the Period dimension. In addition, you must create members for each level of the Period dimension in the View dimension. (7408155)

• Some validations are not present when you duplicate a deployed Consolidation application. You must make sure the application name does not exceed 10 characters, contain special characters, or start with a number. (7309544)

• A user provisioned with the application administrator (consolidation) role will not be able to validate or deploy an application. The user must be provisioned with the application creator and application administrator roles to perform this operation. (7368264)

• If a member property XBRL tag has more than 255 characters, it may cause a Consolidation application deployment to fail, even if it passes validations. You should change the length of the XBRL tag and redeploy the application. (7337301)

(7441470)

Process Management/Process Control

• In prior releases of Financial Management, both the Pass/Fail status as well as the Validation account needed to be Pass in order for you to reject a process unit. You can now reject a process unit even if the Pass/Fail status or validation account status is Failed.

• If Process Management was included in a tasklist from a prior version, when you select Process Management, you will be redirected to the new Process Control page. You should remove the old reference and replace it with the new Process Control module.

• For DB2 8.1 or 8.2, only one document can be attached to a subcube during any process management action, per application.

Related Content

• The error “80070005:Access is denied” is displayed when the URL is configured with the Fully Qualified Domain Name. Use the following format when configuring Related Content in the EPM Configurator:

o http://server/workspace/browse/listxml (http://server.hyperion.com/workspace/browse/listxml will not work)

Rules

• In Financial Management 11.1.1, user-defined lists can now be used with the HS.OpenDataUnit function for Account, Custom 1-4, and ICP. System lists are not supported with this function.

Specifying a user-defined list is supported: Example: HS.OpenDatUnit(“A{MyList1}.C1#Opening”)

Specifying a system list results in a runtime error: Example: HsS.OpenDataUnit(“A{TotalAssets.[Base]}.C1#Opening”)

• The HS.OpenDataUnitSorted function is not supported in this release.

Running Tasks

Running Tasks are no longer available if you set the AutoClearDataAfterSeconds registry key. (1-129896813)

15

Security Administration

• A user with the Load System role does not automatically have the Application Creator role assigned when the application is converted from a Classic Administration Application to an EPMA application. Users with the Load System role must be manually provisioned, or they cannot load metadata after the application is converted.

Smart View

• The Migration Utility does not convert the HFMLNK function unless the cell specifies this format: HFMLNK (<value>, <POV>). For example, HFMLNK (V1, D1) where V1 is a cell reference to a value, and D1 is a cell reference to a dimension would convert correctly, however, if you combine the value and the POV into one cell reference, (HFMLNK (C1))it does not convert. It is recommended that if any HFMLNK functions contain only one cell reference, that you find and replace them with the specified format.(7032488)

• Due to a limitation in Microsoft Excel, if any cell in a workbook contains over 1024 characters, the Migrate Active Workbook feature does not migrate the workbook. You can reduce the size of data contained in one cell by referencing out multiple functions or removing dimensions to be set in the background POV.(6579677)

System Reports

• In Journal reports, the style sheet type does not take effect if it is hard-coded on the Data tab as the XML style sheet type or if the report is saved remotely.(53647)

• Rows or columns may not display for Data Explorer system reports if the members selected are set to description only and the members do not have descriptions in the metadata. (26712)

• Account lists are not supported for Intercompany Matching Reports. (371557)

• If you save a report in XML or HTML format and a blank screen is displayed, verify the entry first. Then, if the entry is correct, save the report as an RPT file. A more descriptive error message is displayed.

• Intercompany Matching Reports may not run in an SSL environment.

• When you run EPU reports and Users on Systems reports, the BI Publisher formats do not run properly if the Web server and Application server are on different machines.

• Using 64 bit HFM and running system reports using Oracle BI Publisher may result in an Access Denied error. To fix this issue, perform the following steps:

A domain account should be used for the Financial Management Web Server and Financial Management Application Server. On the IIS 6 Web Server, the Application Pool identity must be set to the domain user, and the appropriate permissions must be set on the following:

c:\windows\help\iishelp\common: Read and Execute, List Folder Contents, Read c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\ASP Compiled Templates: Full Control c:\windows\IIS Temporary Compressed: Full Control

This user must also be added to the IIS_WPG group.

System Configuration/Processing

• When using Financial Management, you should turn off scanning mechanisms (for example, anti-virus, Windows Automatic Updates). Running these in conjunction with Financial Management can result in unexpected behavior.

Page 16: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

16

Task Automation

• Current Module field in ‘Running Tasks’ may show additional characters for tasks initiated by task automation, however this does not impact the running tasks.

• If a Taskflow never reaches the Done status when executed on a standalone Web Server from the Web Server-only installation, follow this procedure: o Manually copy the server resource files (HsvTier2Res*.dll) from an application server machine

to a directory on the Web Server.

o Create this string value in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management\ServerResourceDir.

o Set the ServerResourceDir value to the path where the resource files were copied.

• If you are using Windows 2003, the Network Service, or the account running the application pool, needs Read/Write access to the HKLM\Software\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Financial Management key and below in order to execute multiple stages in a taskflow.

• Task Automation is not operable for language preferences using Traditional Chinese or Simple Chinese.

Tasklists

These characters are not supported in the name field for a tasklist: (“ ‘ : ; <>).

Users on System

• The administrator can control the end user Session timeout by changing the setting in IIS, or by changing the Web Session Timeout using the EPM Configurator. The default timeout is 20 minutes.

• Module names are stored in the database in the language of the user running the module.

User Preferences

• When you make changes to user preferences for HFM, then want to restore them to their original values, select Restore after you click Save, to restore the values before you log off from the application. (8253424) (396781)

Utilities

• CopyApplication Utility for Classic HFM Applications

Page 17: Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion Edition · This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle® Hyperion Financial Management, Fusion

17

Web Data Forms

• Only static HTML code is allowed in the instructions section of Data Forms.

• The Calc1 function only supports two operands; however, if a Web Data Form is created using more than two operands, the form loads without error.

• The following characters are not supported for Web Data Form names:

o Period(.), colon(:), comma (,), semi-colon(;), question mark(?), forward slash(/), backslash(\), pipe (|), open and close curly brackets ( { } ), open and close parentheses ( ), double quotation marks (“), less than and greater than ( < > ), plus (+), pound (#) and asterisk(*).(370269)

• Data Forms scanned with errors and then scanned without issues are saved as Preview forms. (1-93261531)

• Optional HTML formatting options are ignored with forms in Firefox 1.07. (1-115409391)

Workspace

• The View pane many render improperly when navigating directly between two Financial Management applications if the View pane is minimized in the first application. Closing and reopening the Financial Management application restores the View pane.

• Changing the text size from the View menu is not supported.

• When launching Shared Services from within a Financial Management application, you may get an error when returning to the application after logging out of Shared Services. This error may occur when you attempt to perform a new operation within Financial Management. This error displays: “An error has occurred. Please contact your Administrator. Session has timed out”. You must close, and then reopen the Financial Management application.

• If EPM Workspace is accessed using Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) based on Apache 2.0 and is secured by SSL, patch 6151956 must be applied in order to successfully perform HFM data load operations. http://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchDetails/process_form?patch_num=6151956

• To use multiple Financial Management Web servers from one Workspace server, use this procedure:

o Navigate to <server>\Hyperion\common\httpServers\Apache\2.0.52\conf.

o Either hfm.conf or httpd.conf will have the following text:

ProxyPass /hfm http://webserver.hyperion.com:80/hfm ProxyPassReverse /hfm http://webserver.hyperion.com:80/hfm

To add another HFM web server and context, copy and paste the two lines above in the same file, and make appropriate changes:

ProxyPass /hfmcontext1 http://webserver01.hyperion.com:80/hfm ProxyPassReverse /hfmcontext1 http://webserver01.hyperion.com:80/hfm

In this example, a new context was added (hfmcontext1) that is pointing to a different HFM web server (webserver01).

Restart all Workspace services and Shared Services.

From User Preferences:

1. Select Application. 2. For Alternate WebServer, type in the new Web context name (for example, hfmcontext1). 3. Save the changes.

Using Microsoft SQL Server Windows Authentication to Configure Performance Management Architect • To use Microsoft SQL Server Windows Authentication to configure Performance Management

Architect, you must first have security access to both the Performance Management Architect machine and the Database server. Change the user on each Performance Management Architect service to an account that exists on both machines as follows:

1. Right-click on each Performance Management Architect service (Process Manager, Event,

Engine, and NetJni). 2. Select Properties. 3. Then select the Login tab. 4. Specify “this user” and click Apply.

5. In the Oracle EPM Configurator Database Configuration, perform new database configuration for SQL Server Windows Authentication. Ensure that the user name and password fields are empty.

6. Click the Advanced Options button. 7. In the Advanced Options dialog box, add the following to the JDBC URL:

AuthenticationMethod=ntlm. After configuration, you can also enable Windows Integrated Authentication as follows: On the Dimension Server, (independent of the EPM Configurator), in the BPM_Server_Config.xml file, under the <Data_Access_Layer>, add this tag: <UseWindowsAuthentication>true</UseWindowsAuthentication>.

Performance Management Architect User Provisioning • EPM Architect is listed in Shared Services for user provisioning and it should not be listed. The

Provisioning Manager role that is listed under EPM Architect does not have any effect on Performance Management Architect security.

Aggregation Weight Property • The domain for the aggregation weight property for a custom dimension is listed in the EPM

Architect Administrator’s Guide as being between 0 and 1. However, the domain for this property is actually from -1 to 1. (7344311)

Modifying BPMA_SERVER_CONFIG.xml Settings • You can modify settings in the BPMA_SERVER_CONFIG.xml file located in the

HYP_HOME\products\Foundation\BPMA\AppServer\DimensionServer\ServerEngine\bin directory. For example, you can increase the import error threshold by changing the <ImportErrorThreshold> setting. The default value for the threshold is 1000 and you can increase the threshold, as necessary. Keep in mind that if you modify any settings in the BPMA_SERVER_CONFIG.xml file you should restart the Process Manager service. (7504436)
