    1. Purpose

    This Oracle 10g software installation guide is intended for internal developers to installOracle 10g Release2 database binary software.

    2. Installation Considerationa. This installation guide is based on fresh Oracle10g Release2 installation. If you

    have previous Oracle 10g installed, it is suggested to de-install the previousOracle 10g software and cleanup the previous Oracle 10g installation folder.

    b. It is suggested your database server has two physical disks or two logicalpartitions when install Oracle 10g Release2 software.

    The Oracle 10g Release2 software is suggested to install on D:\ drive if your machine has two or more disk drives.The disk space required to install Oracle 10g Release2 binary software for

    Standard Edition is about 1.6GB including database and companion CD.

    Your database machine should have at least 500 MB RAM to install Oracle 10GAnd create demo size database.

    c. There are two installations for Oracle 10g Release2:. Oracle 10G Release2 Database CD;. Oracle 10G Release2 Companion CD;

    d. The Oracle binary install option is Standard Edition. Also, when install OracleBinary, please dont create database instance.The Agile database instance will be created by Agile 9.2 database creation utility.

    Agile9 or Agile9.1 database creation utility cannot run on Oracle 10g.

    e. For machine configured DHCP, there is a workaround need performedbefore install Oracle 10g Release2. Please refer to the Appendix for detail.

    3. Installation

    3.1 Verify if the workaround is performed for machinesconfigured with DHCP as per appendix A.

    3.2Install Oracle 10gr2 Database Softwarea. Login the machine as administrator or user has administrator privileges.b. Go to Oracle 10g database installation software, double click setup.exe

    c. The Oracle Universal Installer command Window will appear.

    This window will run for a while, and then welcome page will come out.

    Please select Basic Installation .For Oracle Home Location ,Select: D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1, which is the default if you have two disks.

    For Installation Type , select Standard Edition.

    Please do not check: Create Starter Database when install Oracle 10g software.You will create Agile database by running Agile database creation utility later.

    Note: For server with 3 or more disks, Oracle Home maybe take other disk, but it is recommended to install Oracle 10g software on D: drive.

    d. The Oracle universal installer will verify server environment and configuration.

    If passed the Product-Specific Prerequisite check, the Summary window willappear.

    Note: If server set as DHCP, there will be error on this step.Please refer Appendix for workaround.

    e. The Summary window shown as below, click Install to continue.

    g. When the installation is done, the End of Installation window will appear. ClickExit to exit the installation of Oracle 10g Release2 database software.

    3.2Install Oracle 10g Release2 Companion CDAfter install Oracle 10g Release2 database software, we need install Oracle 10GRelease2 companion CD for Oracle TEXT require by Agile Full Text Search.

    a. Go to Oracle 10g companion installation software, double click setup.exe.

    b. The Oracle Universal Installer command window will appear. After a while, theWelcome window will appear, click Next to continue.

    Select Oracle Database 10g Products 10.2.0.1.0 and click Next.

    d. Specify Home Details Window will appear,

    Make sure select the same Oracle Home when you install Oracle10 database onStep 3.1c and click Next.

    e. The Oracle installer will check the server environment and Oracle Home. Theresults will show below. If no error, click Next to continue.

    f. The Summary Window will appear, click Install to start the Install process.

    h. When it is done, the End of Installation window will appear, click Exit to exit the

    Oracle 10g Companion CD installation.

    These conclude the Oracle 10 Database software installation.

    4. Appendix A Workaround for Computer Configured withDHCP

    For Server configured with DHCP, there is an Oracle BUG. The Oracle 10ginstallation will fail and pop-up error message:

    Thrown When the IP address of a host can not be determined.

    There are two workarounds available:

    4.1Workaround oneCopy Oracle 10g installation software to your local disk and perform off-network

    installation.

    4.2Workaround twoInstall Microsoft Loopback adaptor on DHCP machine then add one entry onhosts file.

    To install Microsoft lookback adaptor on Window 2000:

    1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-clickAdd/Remove Hardware.

    2. Click Add/Troubleshoot a device, and then click Next.

    3. Click Add a new device, and then click Next.

    4. Click No, I want to select the hardware from a list, and then click Next.

    5. Click Network adapters, and then click Next.

    6. In the Manufacturers box, click Microsoft.

    7. In the Network Adapter box, click Microsoft Loopback Adapter, and then clickNext.

    8. Click Finish.

    To configure hosts file:

    Open file hosts which located on:

    C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc

    Add entry on hosts:

    10:10:10:10 hostname.agile.agilesoft.com hostname

    and save.

    For example, your computer full name is:

    qadb1.agile.agilesoft.com, then add entry:

    10.10.10.10 qadb1.agile.agilesoft.com qadb1

    setup loopback IP on network:On database server, go to: my network places .

    Right click my network places , then click Properties will bring to: Network andDial-up Connections window.

    Locate a connection with device name is: Microsoft Loopback Adapter . Thisconnection usually is Local Area Connection 2.

    Right Click this connection, on General tab, go to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) ,then click Properties , it will open Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) propertieswindow.

    On General tab, select Use the following IP Addresse, put:

    IP address: 10.10.10.10

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Click Ok to close then reboot the server. You are ready for Oracle 10gRelase 2Installation.

    Database Node Installation - Pre Requisites

    1) If server is DHCP configured you should setup a loopback (10g installation requirements)a. Control panel -> Add hardware

    b. Choose: Yes, I have already connected the hardware

    c. Choose: Add a new hardware device (the last item on list)

    d. Choose: Install the hardware that I manually select from a list

    e. Choose: Network adapters

    f. Choose at the left side: Microsoft at right side choose: Microsoft loopback adapter

    g. Edit the server host file at c:\windows\system32\driver\etc\hostsAdd the following line:10.10.10.10 agiledb.domain agiledb

    h. Navigate to network connections: Start -> settings -> Network Connections

    i. Right Click on Local Area Connection Microsoft Loopback Adapter -> properties

    ii. Select TCP/IP -> properties

    iii. Edit the ip address to 10.10.10.10iv. Edit the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
