Commission voted not to recommend the limitation of hotel/motel uses, and

WHEREAS, the Planning Policy Commission adopted findings describing its tie

vote on March 22, 2018 and thereafter forwarded those findings to the City Council; and

Re: Administration Findings regarding the limitation of new Hotels/Motels and Self-Storage uses in Central Issaquah

Attachments: 1. Other City Code provisions allowing these uses 2. Map of Existing Hotel/Motels and Self-Storage Uses

This proposed amendment specifically limits new Hotels, Motels, Time Share Lodging, Conference Centers to the Urban Core Zoning District (Pickering Neighborhood, only) and Self Storage (completely enclosed) uses to the Mixed Use Zoning District (Parcels fronting East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE or 221st Place SE only) in Central Issaquah. These amendments are intended to locate these uses in proximity to urban densities in those zones. Limiting these uses in Central Issaquah also provides more opportunities for other uses that support the planned housing and job growth, and related services needed in this area to implement the Central Issaquah Vision. Hotels, Motels, Time Share Lodging, Conference Centers are permitted uses outside Central Issaquah, in the following zones: Professional Office, Cultural Business District, Retail and Intensive Commercial. Conference Centers are also allowed in the Community Facilities - Facilities zone as an accessory use only (See Attachment 1). Self Storage (completely enclosed) uses are permitted uses outside Central Issaquah, in the following zones: Professional Office, Retail and Intensive Commercial (See Attachment 1).
