IOSA ORFF BEAT FALL 2016 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Greetings IOSA Members and Friends! It’s hard to believe that we are ready for another school year or that some of you have already been back to school for a couple of weeks now! I know that summer is always a time for working on some professional development or getting your classroom organized, but I hope that you also found some time for fun and relaxation with family and friends. The Brinkman Family Summer Vacation was to Mackinac Island, Michigan and we realized that summer doesn’t really arrive in that part of the country in early June! We had a lot of fun touring the island on a horse drawn carriage, walking the trails, eating fudge, looking at lighthouses, driving across the Mackinaw Bridge to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and spending time together as a family in spite of it being terribly chilly! Once again, we have a wonderful group of presenters to our workshops this year. LuAnn Hayes will kick off the year with some great ideas for our little music makers. Patrick Ware will join us in October with ideas for how to incorporate the Schulwerk with jazz. Our March Chapter Share will focus on activities and ideas for those of us without a lot of instruments. Amy Beegle will end our year with ideas for incorporating world music into the Schulwerk. You will find detailed workshop information in the following pages of the newsletter. All workshops will be held at Smoky Row Elementary School, 900 West 136th Street, Carmel, IN 46032. Please let any IOSA board member know your thoughts and concerns, and feel free to email me if you have something you wish to discuss at [email protected]. I look forward to seeing you at the September workshop! Michelle Brinkman, IOSA President 1 IOSA ORFF BEAT

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings IOSA Members and Friends!

All workshops will be held at Smoky

Row Elementary School, 900 West 136th Street, Carmel, IN 46032.

Please let any IOSA board member know your thoughts and concerns, and feel free to email me if you have something you wish to discuss at [email protected].

I look forward to seeing you at the September workshop!
