with no thought of fundraising. We gave the church an update on June 28. And on July 1 we had $29,824—$1,824 over our Phase One goal. We mailed Nelson a check for the first half. The purchase contract was secure.!

Our Phase Two goal was to raise the remaining $28,000 by September 1, so the organ could be installed in time for the fall Choir season. Half that amount came in during the next two weeks. Then giving fell off for about four weeks, with little coming in. During the last two weeks of August, giving picked up again, and by September 1 we had raised an additional $32,282—a total of $5,106 over our $56,000 goal. Even more has come in since September 1, for a total of $62,184.!

And all that came about without a significant drop in our regular giving.!

So what did we do with the extra $6,000? Again, God knew we had overlooked some significant costs required to build a rolling platform for the organ and to remodel the organ speaker chambers in preparation for the installation. And as usual, He gave us just enough. This instrument was absolutely and totally paid for in every detail before it entered the building.!

In summary, it appears clear to us that God had our organ built for us nine years before we even started looking. He placed it in the safe storage of Bob Tall's home, where it was preserved flawlessly new. Before we asked, God had already set aside for us twice the organ we could have dreamed of, and He had it waiting for us at half the price—with a full warranty!!

So we have installed an engraved plaque just above the organ keyboard, where it will be seen by everyone who plays this instrument. The plaque says:!

To all who play this organ, please do so with the conscious awareness that:!

This Organ is an amazing gift from an amazing God ~ November 1, 2014 This Organ has been dedicated to be used always and only for the glory of God!

So as you enjoy listening to our new organ, be aware and know that you are listening to what GOD has done!!! God answered our prayer before we even asked. And He gave us exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)—or even dare to hope for. ! !!!!!!GLENDALE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH

attention of Dennis earlier. Known as the "Big Mama," this unique organ had become well known for its incredible tone and depth and, when demonstrated, had persuaded a number of buyers who had been disappointed with other models to purchase a Rodgers Trillium. At the price Bob was asking, the final installed cost would be similar to that of the Masterpiece. Nelson was not sure Bob would even consider selling the organ to us, as he had a personal interest in where his organ ended up. And once the word got out, many people would be very interested in this instrument.!

We quickly added the Trillium option to our Church Board presentation that same evening: May 15. The only "practical" considerations between the 2-year-old Masterpiece and the 9-year-old Trillium were age and warranty. The Masterpiece would come with a full warranty; the “Big Mama” would not. After a thorough discussion, the Board decided to aim high and recommended that only those two higher-end organs be recommended to the Church Family at the meeting scheduled for the following Sunday evening.!

On May 18, we presented the Masterpiece and Trillium to the Church Family Council. We then asked the church members to go home and ask God one question: "Is one of these instruments the organ You have in mind for this church at this time?"—then to listen for God's voice. We would gather again in two weeks to share what we heard God say. And if either or both organs sold during that two-week interim, the answer would be obvious.!

This prayer approach was based on something we had experienced two years earlier, when we were seeking a new principal for our school, Glenview Adventist Academy. It was late in the hiring season, and we could only find one qualified and available candidate. Logic would dictate that we hire him quickly, before he got away. Instead, after the interview, we sent the School Board members home to ask God this question: "Is this Your man for this school at this time?" After four days of prayer, the School Board unanimously (with one abstention) felt God was saying, "No, this is not the man." So we passed up the only available candidate and kept looking. A couple weeks later, God opened up a totally unforeseen door and miraculously brought us just the person we needed—the perfect fit. It was great to know God made the choice, not a committee. We wanted that same experience with the organ decision.!

During those two weeks following our meeting about the organ, while the Church Family was listening for the voice of God, two important things happened: First, Nelson e-mailed us that Bob Tall had been in contact with the Rodgers Corporate Office and that Rodgers had agreed that since the 9-year-old Big Mama had never been sold to a retail end-user, it would now be sold with a full "new organ" 10-year warranty. Amazing! Then, on Memorial Day, Dennis and Claudia drove to Glendale, California, to visit Bob Tall and play the Big Mama. They loved it. They had a great time getting acquainted with Bob, and Bob seemed to take a liking to the potential of how his organ would be used if sold to the Glendale Church.!

The Church Family met again on June 1. Before we shared the news about the full warranty on the Trillium, we asked them to share what they had heard from God. The answer was clear: 32 reported hearing God say YES to the Trillium, while 16 said they had not heard anything from God. We then reported on the warranty, and the Church Family voted overwhelmingly to pursue the purchase of the Trillium by raising $56,000, with the balance to be taken from current church funds. Nelson Dodge set about writing up a purchase contract. But without our asking, he chose to cross out the phrase "subject to prior sale," giving us 60 days to come up with half the purchase price, during which time the organ would be held for us. That is highly unusual in the sale of a used instrument. Normally, anyone can snatch it up until you actually pay the 50% down. All that was left now was to raise $56,000—during the summer. That is the worst time to raise money. And we are a church without deep pockets.!

On Sabbath, June 7, we presented Phase One to the church. Our goal was $28,000 by July 1, just over three weeks away. The next two Sabbaths, most of us were up in Prescott for Camp-meeting!

ORGAN DEDICATION CONCERT

Our Organ Story As we enjoy this dedicatory concert, we want you to know the story behind how this magnificent instrument came to reside here in the Glendale Adventist Church. This moment has been a long time coming, yet it is right on time!!

For several years, the need for a new organ has become more and more urgent, as our old Rodgers was becoming both unreliable and unrepairable. Our prayer (and belief) was that God would keep our old organ going until He brought us a new one. And He did...and He has!!

Our desire in replacing our old organ was to have it come about in such a way that it was plain for all to see that God selected and provided our new organ—that it was not because of our own decision and fund-raising projects. We struggled to know just what such a God-driven process would look like. But we were certain it had to be more than just a series of committee meetings, with a few prayers tossed in.!

At a Church Family meeting in April 2012, we discussed the need for a new organ and the reality that a new organ of the caliber we wanted would be a $100,000+ project. That seemed impossible. But the Church Family voted permission to begin looking for a new organ and to build awareness of the need—but NOT to begin raising funds yet. We wanted to find the instrument God had for us and then let Him verify it by bringing in the funds to match.!

We began building awareness by inviting those attending our Christmas and Easter concerts to sign up to become "Friends of the Organ." We would keep them informed about the search process and, of course, invite them to help out financially once an instrument was selected.!

Nothing transpired until this past spring. Right after our April 19, 2014, Easter concert, a "Friend of the Organ" e-mailed Dennis Marsollier, our Minister of Music, about a 21-year-old three-manual Allen organ listed on eBay for around $18,000. Dennis checked it out and felt it was too old and out-of-date to be a wise investment. But somehow that one e-mail started the ball rolling. Dennis contacted a local organ dealer, who referred him to the Rodgers organ dealership in Pasadena, California. Over the telephone, the owner, Nelson Dodge, suggested three options: a 17-year-old Rodgers at $18,000, a 5-year-old Rodgers Allegiant at $32,000, and a 2-year-old Rodgers Masterpiece showroom demo at $56,000. Any of these consoles would require an additional $20,000 for speakers, amplifiers, shipping, and installation.!

A few days later, Dennis and his wife Claudia, our church organist, were on a Glenview Choir trip to Southern California and had the opportunity to stop in at the dealership. There they met Nelson and played the three organs. They felt the 17-year-old Rodgers was too old to be a wise investment, the 5-year-old Allegiant would be "adequate," but that the 2-year-old Masterpiece was far superior and the desired option. It was essentially new, was originally priced at $85,000, and came with a full warranty. Over the next couple of days, Nelson took Dennis and Claudia to several nearby churches to listen to various Rodgers organs. One organ in particular caught the attention of Dennis. It had a breadth, depth, and strength of sound that stood out above all the others and sounded like just what Dennis was looking for. It turned out to be a Rodgers Trillium model, in the $150,000 price range—clearly far beyond anything the Glendale Church could ever hope for. !

Back home, Dennis and Pastor Gary Venden discussed the search results and decided to take the three options at Nelson's dealership to the Church Board to see if they would recommend presenting any of these organs for further consideration at a Church Family meeting. Just hours before the Board meeting and based on a question Dennis had about the Masterpiece, Nelson called Dennis with another exciting option. Word had just surfaced that Bob Tall was ready to sell his Rodgers Trillium 968 which had been his personal organ in his home for the past nine years. It was an organ built to Bob's custom specifications and was much like the magnificent organ that had caught the!

His selection of pipe samples and sounds he customized on this organ was the catalyst for redefining the specifications for all Rodgers organs. Many people from around the world have come to play this organ, when it was installed in his home. As a result, many organs were purchased with the Robert Tall specification. While she is unique and truly the only one, “Big Mama” has been “cloned” due to the desire of replicating its wonderful sound. This organ was designed to set the standard for what Bob Tall likes to call the “Modern Organ.” As such, he has become one of the foremost authorities in the development and use of MIDI and incorporating this technology into the organ.!

As an organist, Dr. Tall is well known for his compositions, arrangements publications and recordings. His recording of “I Am An American” - an original arrangement by Bob, was nominated for a grammy award in 2008 for Best Solo Instrument. It was recorded on this organ as well as other recordings. His music has been widely published including a special arrangement of “The Lord’s Prayer” for organ. Combining his composing/arranging/performing skills with the latest technological advances, he has brought the organ sound into the modern era as only a few can do. More information can be found on his website at RobertTall.com.!

Our church never dreamed we would receive such a high caliber instrument. The story of how this organ came into our congregation is truly a miracle of God. It is with great joy and humbleness that we dedicate this instrument to the Lord today!!

attention of Dennis earlier.

The next two Sabbaths, most of us were up in Prescott for Camp-meeting!

with no thought of fundraising.
