ABOUT THE EVENTABOUT THE EVENT UP Sainik School, Lucknow on the occasion of its celebration of Golden Jubilee Year gave city an Annual Prize Money event “LUCKNOW HALF MARATHON” organized by UPSAINIAN TRUST (Alumni of UP Sainik School) as a tribute to martyrs and Prerna for future generation .

. The Alumni of U.P. Sainik school are highly placed in the defence forces & well connected in civil life. They have formed a public Charitable Trust namely UPSAINIAN TRUST through which they give wide publicity to the event , which motivates general public for a particular theme every year.

The Lucknow half marathon is affiliated to the UP Athletics Association.

The run is a grand success each year and receives overwhelming response from all cross sections of society.

ABOUT THE EVENT CATEGORIES AND PRIZE MONEY

1.Open Half Marathon (Above 18 years) Men EventPrize of Rs 1,25,000/-

2. Open Half Marathon (Above 18 years) Girls Event Prize of Rs 1,25,000/-

3. Students under 18 years ( School Sponsored Event) Boys & Girls Category Prize of Rs 25,000/- each

4. Run for fun / Dream Run- 1Km Support for the cause

Total Cash Prize Rs 6, 50,000/-

ABOUT THE EVENTLUCKNOW HALF MARATHON

The Event

• The Lucknow’s 1st Half Marathon was organized on 20th Dec 2009.

• The event was flagged off by Army Commander in the first three years and by Hon’ble Chief Minister of U.P. in the Fourth year .

• Entire Route is managed by the co-operation of Army, Traffic Police and Private Security Guards. Ambulances, Route Patrol Vehicle, Water, Medical & Toilet Points on the routes were provided by the Army.

• Milind Soman, Manoj Tiwari, besides Senior Bureaucrats and Senior Defence Officers attended the events

• Prize of Rs 1 Lakh was given to the 1st prize winner ARVIND YADAV in the men’s .

• SUKANYA MAL was winner in girls category and total prize money distributed was 2.65 lakhs.

• Currently the total outgo on cash Prize is Rs 6,50,000/-

.


The Event

• The Event is widely covered by the print and the electronic media.

• The local FM radio covers the event and prominently mentioning the name of the sponsors.

• The participation is from whole of state and from other States too including common man, corporate houses, athletes, schools, armed forces, police and other paramilitary forces.

• The Event is followed by a Cocktail party and Dinner which is largely attended by the Alumni of UP Sainik School.

Registered Public Charitable Trust – UPSAINIAN TRUST - UP Sainik School Old boys Association holds one of the objective to conduct / assist in conducting evevnts of Military, Literary, Scientific, Sports, Cultural and charitable nature conducive to all or any of the others objects given in the Trust Deed.

•The UPSAINIAN TRUST connect s with UPSS as it is an association of ex-cadets of UP Sainik School, Lucknow. The school has raised generations of young boys of the state not only for a career in the armed forces and excelling in all walks of life.

•Founded in July 1960, UP Sainik School(UPSS), a special institution and the first of its own kind was set up to provide high quality of education, physical standards and discipline to selected students with an aim to increase influx of Uttar Pradesh domicile to the Defence Forces of our motherland, INDIA.

•UP Sainik School is the only School amongst 23 Sainik Schools across the country to have a rare privilege and honour of having a Param Vir Chakra( Late Captain Manoj Pandey).
