Orientation /Induction Programme for Freshers held at Faculty of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard , New Delhi-110062 on 27 th August, 2015. Office of the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, organized an orientation programme for the new entrants at the Faculty of Pharmacy on 27 th August 2015. More than 200, newly admitted students of Diploma ,B. Pharm and M.Pharm were introduced to the various aspects of “Pharmacy as a profession” and were duly informed about the developments, scope and future in the field. On the occasion the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy , Prof Asgar Ali welcomed the students and congratulated them on choosing the course and the particular faculty to fulfill their professional dreams. He apprised them about our national ranking and also its being the flagship course of the University. He also took this opportunity to tell them about the examination system, attendance criteria and other aspects of the course. Furthermore he shared the vision of our beloved Founder of the University and also how his vision is being carried forward by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr G.N. Qazi. Dr Qazi is a scientist par excellence and spearheading the progress of the university in terms of research ,academics and other arenas and his unmatched leadership and infallible support will help the university to march ahead in times. The HOD’s of the various departments namely , Prof Shahid H Ansari,(Deptt of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry ) ;Dr Anees A,. Siddiqui (Deptt of Pharm. Chemistry); Dr Uma Bhandari (Deptt. of Pharmcaology) and Dr Farhan J. Ahmad (Deptt of Pharmaceutics) further reiterated the salient features of their respective departments and the research undertaken by them. The teachers including Dr Nadeem Siddiqui,, Dr Asif Hussain and Prof Divya Vohora also graced the occasion. Prof Ansari, the erstwhile D.S.W, shared with the students the various welfare schemes available at the university and reiterated the university’s commitment towards delivering quality education. Moreover he emphasized that the campus is committed to be “Ragging free, alcohol -smoke free, and student council free” and practices a zero tolerance towards indiscipline of any kind.They were also motivated to channelize their energy and take up atleast one sport of their choice and be conscious of being disciplined while also enjoying their stay in the sylvan environs of Jamia Hamdard. Dr Farhan J Ahmad , who is also responsible for placements and training, talked to the students about the advancements which are happening in the professional field ,as also his own department’s contribution towards it. Dr Sanjula Baboota, as a member of SPOSH, JH (Sensitization and Prevention Of Sexual Harassment at work place) acquainted the students about the genesis and execution of the SPOSH, JH. The proceedings of the day were successfully convened by Dr Zeenat Iqbal, who also made a presentation on the genesis of the university in general and the faculty in particular with an emphasis on various milestones achieved over the years with a primary showcasing of the research endeavors’ and national and international recognition of the Faculty of Pharmacy. ________________________________________
