Origami Flowers

Select the colorings you wish to use for your project and cut squares approx. 5’’ x 5’’ but you can make your petals any size that you require. Each flower requires 5 petal squares.

Fold and score your cut and colored square along the centre diagonal line to form a triangle shape as shown. Score well on fold line.

Fold and score both of the corners into the central line as shown in the pictures. Score well on fold line.

Now score and fold the center of these folds outwards to create the shape shown.

Place your fingers into one of the side folds that you have created and open out. Repeat this on each side. Score the shapes created well.

ORIGAMI FLOWERSHOW TO MAKE

Fold down both top bits on each side. Here these have been tucked inside the folds.

Fold in the outer folds on top on the middle fold and score well. Apply Tacky Glue to the outer folds as show.

Attach both center panels as show. Gently squeeze the petal to form the oval shape. Complete 5 petals to form you flower.

Apply Tacky glue to each edge of your petals and attach to each other in a circular pattern which forms your flower shape. Here small pegs or clips have been used to hold the flower petals in place until the glue dries.

Your Origami flower is now ready to decorate as required. Here a length of florist wire was been used to form the flower stem. A small hook was created in the top of the wire and this was threaded into the center of each flower and hooked over one of the petals to hold the wire in place. A buttons and twine have been added to decorate the central section and cover the wire stem.
