EARLIEST USES OF THE PLANT
– Ethiopians chewed the leaves and fruits gathered from wild trees.
– A mixture of ground-roasted, or green, coffee fruits and fats were taken along on hunts as a survival staple.
– Caffeine was leached out of the leaves or fruit during chewing.
– Some authors have suggested that an alcoholic beverage was made from the fruits before a non-alcoholic one was produced
