Lewa Educational Union was established in 1916
with the sole resolve of facilitating propagation of
education among the local populace.
Initially, the Union established "Lewa Boarding
House" for boys. Later on the Hostel was converted
into a college for women at a district place. Looking
back, it can be safely said that the purpose has been
satisfactorily served.
Soon after, the Union started opening of educational
institutions for women at the place in a phased
manner and as on date opportunities for education
are available for women from K. G. to P. G. Courses
under one roof.

Established in 1984, we are a women's college affiliated
to the KBC North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon
offering various Under Graduate courses in Faculty of
Humanities, Interdisciplinary Studies, Commerce &
Management Faculty and Science & Technology along
with Post Graduate Courses in Economics, Psychology,
Marathi, Hindi, Commerce, Computer Science,
Organic Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and
various career oriented and skills enhancing add-on
courses. The college has been awarded 'A' Grade by
NAAC, Bangalore . Our sole aim is to fulfill educational
needs of the womenfolk of the region. Over the years,
the Institution has been providing students an
environment rich in knowledge and supportive of their
extracurricular interests. We encourage the girl
students for learning along with a desire to evolve into a
socially responsible citizen. The aim is to make students

Gymnasium Facilities : The college has a spacious
very well-equipped Gymnasium for the students of the
college. The Gymnasium is available to the students
through out the week.
Language Laboratory : A well-equipped digital
language laboratory is available to acquaint the students
from all faculties with the communicative English.
Bridge Course : Teachers from all departments
identify certain topics for the first years students.
These topics are taught at the beginning of the session
before the introduction of the actual syllabus. These
selected topics are normally the basics of the "to be

Competitive Examination Guidance Centre : The
expertise guidance and information regarding various
competitive examination is made available to the
students by this centre. Various activities such as
seminars, workshops, regarding competitive / soft skills
are also conducted.
Jidnyasa:To create awareness amongst the students of
KBC North Maharashtra University region, the
competitive examination centre of the college conducts
the state level competitive examination. Students from
all over Maharashtra State appear for the Examination in
which Prizes over Rs. 0l Lakh are distributed among the
students. For this examination 'Jidnyasa' a book for
competitive examination is published by the college.
The book is written by the college teachers which is
very useful for all types of competitive examinations.
Centre for Mass Media and Foreign Languages:
Today the field of electronic media has become the big
job provide industry. Be by Keeping in mind the
opportunity in the field of mass media and Foreign
languages college has started the centre for mass media
and Foreign Languages. The Centre was inaugarated at
the hands of Dr. Udayji Nirgudkar, Chief editor Zee 24
tass. The selected Students of the centre would get job
in news channels like Zee 24 tass. Collage has
estabilished separate Video and Audio recordings
studios. Professional from the various media houses of
Mumbai, Pune and Jalgaon will guide the students. The
course is base on 80% practical & 20% theory.
Certificate, Diploma and advance diploma courses in
Mass Media and Foreign Languages are introduce by the
centre. The beginning centre is going to start the
certificate course in foreign languages like French &
German.

Continuous Assessment : We believe that continuous
assessment and evaluation of the students is essential
for achieving the objective of quality education.
Periodical tests, Tutorials, Home assignments,
Seminars, Group Discussion. Presentations and Mid-
Semester tests are the methods which are used for
assessing the students continuously. The performance
of the students in extra curricular activities, co-
curricular activities and extension activities is also
taken into account and recorded.
Participation in Exhibitions & Quiz competitions :
Participation in various educational exhibitions and
quiz competitions is another area where college takes
special efforts to give more exposure to the students.
Remedial Coaching Scheme : Remedial coaching
classes are conducted regularly for the benefit of the
academically challenged students.
Cash Awards and recognitions : We believe that
encouragement is key booster to student's overall
performance and hence we have constituted special
cash award to rank holders from the college funds and
through financial assistance.
l Suggestion Boxes : The suggestion boxes are kept
in the Campus. Valuable suggestions of students
received through suggestion boxes are implemented.
l Photocopy Facility: In the college campus
Photocopy facility is available for the students at the
reasonable rates.
l Hostel : The institution has hostel with boarding
facility for girls with a total intake capacity of about
200 students. Preference is given to the students
coming from rural areas.
l�Consumer store : The college has a students. Co-
operative Consumer Store on the campus. All
stationary articles are available on very reasonable
prices to the students.
l � Library : The college has a rich library and it is
easily accessible to the students from 8.00 am to 5.30
pm. on all working days. The reading rooms in the
library remains open up to I I .00 pm. The library has an
independent reference section and computerization of
its entire functioning. The library has a collection of

Journals annually and facility e-journals 6,000 &

l The library and the reading hall with reference books
is made available for the Alumni for the preparation
of NET/SET/MPSC/UPSC/Ph.D.
l Departmental Library & Book-Bank Scheme:
Every department has a departmental library having
Book Bank Scheme with reference books as well as
text books. Apart from central library, students can
borrow and refer books from the Departmental
Libraries.
l Games & Sports : The college has facility for games
like Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis
and Softball on the campus. For major outdoor games
like Football, Hockey and Cricket the play ground of
the stadium adjacent to the college is available to the
students. The students do well in sports at all College/
University/State/National and International level
competitions. The College has bagged the award of
"KBC NMU Best Womens College" in sports for 9
consecutive years.
l Medical Facility : The campus has a Medical Center
which caters to the medical needs of the students
pertaining to minor ailments.

The Research Committee looks after the functioning of
the laboratory. Research Lab offers services like testing
and analysis of chemicals and samples of research

l Students' Council: In every academic year Students
Council is constituted as per the provisions of the
University Act. Students Council is actively involved
in the proper functioning of the College. The Council
acts as a medium between the Principal and the
Students in general. All problems concerning the
students are discussed threadbare during frequent
meetings over the-academic year.
l N.C.C.: National Cadet Corps, operational in the
college selects 53 students in the unit every year.
Various activities arc conducted by the unit under the
supervision of an N.C.C. Officer. Enrollment in
N.C.C. helps in the enrichment of the personality of
students.
l N.S.S.: The college has a National Service Scheme,
which enrolls about 250 students every year. This is
managed by two assistant programme Officers and
one Programme Officer. The overall aim of N.S.S is
to give an extension dimension to the higher
education system and orient the student youth to
community service while they are studying in
educational system.
l Grievance Redressal Cell: Students can approach
the Principal directly or through suggestion boxes
placed at convenient locations. on the campus for the
redressal of their grievances. Besides, a Grievance
Redressal Cell is constituted every year and remains
functional throughout the session.
l Alumnae Association: Alumnae Association
Registered under the Society Registration Act 1860
(XXI of 1860) functions as a nodal agency for
maintaining liaison with the Alumnae. Efforts are on
to involve ex-students in the development of the
college by undertaking and facilitating conferences,
seminars, lectures involvement in cultural
programmes and meeting amongst alumnae,
students and faculty.
l Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee:
As per the norms of the university committee is
functional on the campus and any student having
complaint in this regard can approach the committee.
l Career Guidance and Placement Cell : The cell is
active on the campus to make the students aware of
the job opportunities through Campus Interviews.
l Vehicle Parking : There is a spacious parking - lot for
the students and the staff on the campus.
l Personality Development : Extra Curricular
Activities through various committees such as Arts
Circle, Debating Committee, Science Association.
Yuvati Sabha, etc. are continuously organized in
college. These committees provide platform and
opportunities for their overall development.
l Study Tours and Excursions : Faculty and
department wise Educational tours/lndustrial visit are
arranged for the students.
l Student Dairy: A student's diary is provided to
every admitted students. It contains the information
about career related websites and detail academic
calendar for the both sessions. Besides, the students
are required to fill the details of the activities day to
day on the campus.
l Student Counseling: At the time of the admission,
the college frames an Admission Committee from
among the teachers, to assist and guide the students
in filling up of admission form, in the selection of
faculty, subject combination etc. Parents who
accompany their wards at the time of the admission
are also actively involved. Besides, a counseling
committee is easily accessible to students for the
advice and guidance on academic, psychological
problems and personal matters throughout the
academic session and mentor mentee scheem is also
easily accessible to students.
l Cultural and Extra Curricular Activities : Under
the guidance and monitoring of the Arts Circle, a
continuous process of Cultural Activities goes on in
the campus. The Students are encouraged to
participate in different cultural activities, the best of
which are selected for the college Annual Social
Gathering and 'Yuvarang', the Youth Festival of the
KBC North Maharashtra University Jalgaon. Similarly,
extracurricular activities like elocution, debating,
easy writing, science-quiz, commerce-quiz, etc. are
managed by the student through the Debating Club,
the Science Association etc. Our Students have also
made a mark in 'Avishkar' a research oriented
competition organized by the KBC North
Maharashtra University, Jalgaon.

l Examination Pattern F.Y./S.Y./T.Y.B.A./B.Com./B.Sc.: There shall be semester CGPA pattern of examination of 100
marks for each course comprising of external examination of 60 marks & continuous internal assessment of 40 marks.

F.Y.B.Sc. with the following combination -Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geography.
Application procedure
Student has to apply for admission in the prescribed
form given in the Prospectus Admission will be
subject to the rules and regulations of the KBC N. M.
University and Govt. of Maharashtra. However, no
student can claim by right admission to the college .

Selection procedure
Admission is given on the basis of the rules &
regulations. Reservation policy as decided by the
Govt. is strictly followed.
The college reserves the right to refuse admission to any candidate without assigning any reason. The decision of the Principal in the matter of admission and allotment of programme of study shall be final.
Change of subjects / faculty
After the process of admission is over a student may
be allowed to change a subject or faculty. For this
the student shall have to put in an application to the
Principal giving reasons for such a request. After
due consideration the change may be permitted.
However, under no circumstances, the request shall
be entertained after l6th August, 2019
For Undergraduate Students
Refund off fees shall be as under vide University
circular No . 126/2003 and I43/2003 .
1) If admission is cancelled within 15 days from the
date of admission, full amount of fee will be
returned.
2) In case admission is cancelled within 15 days to 30
days from the date of admission,20% of the fees
excluding tuition fee shall be deducted.
3) No fees shall be reimbursed if the student cancels
admission after 30 days from the date of admission.
4) The amount of library deposit is reimbursed to the
student only up to three years from the date of
leaving the college. Deposit receipt and admission
receipt must be presented by the student at the time of claiming reimbursement of library deposit.
5) Deposits will not be refunded if a student leaves the
college after l5 days from taking admission.

University Ordinance Regarding Maintenance Of Discipline & Good Conduct
1) Every student, during term of course, shall be within the disciplinary jurisdiction of Competent Authority, & the authority shall take appropriate action, in case of indiscipline or misconduct on the part of the student.
2) Definitions in this Ordinance unless the context otherwise requires.
2.1 "Student" means and includes a person who is enrolled as such by the University, Affiliated College or Recognized institutions for receiving instructions and / or qualifying for any degree or diploma or certificate awarded by the University. This includes External students also.
2.2 "Institutions" means and includes University/ Affiliated College / Recognized Institutions as the case many inclusive of Campus, Hostels, Play Grounds, Laboratory, Libraries, Gymnasium thereof.
2.3 "Competent Authority" for the purposes of this Ordinance means and includes Head of the Teaching Departments of the University, Principal of the Affiliated College , Head of t h e Recognized Institution for the concerned students and such other person vested with the authority by Vice Chancellor for external students. Provided in respect of misconduct regarding University examination, Executive Council shall only be the Competent Authority.
3) Obligations of the Students : Every students shall all times.
3.1 Conduct himself properly.
3.2 Maintain proper behavior.
3.3 Observe strict discipline both within the campus of the Institution, Hostel and also outside in Buses, Railway trains or at public places or Picnic or Educational Trips arranged by the Institution or at Playgrounds.
3.4 Ensure that no act of his consciously or unconsciously brings the Institution or any
establishment or authority connected with it into disrepute.
3.5 Shall not lodge any complaint or make any representation regarding any matter connected with Institution to press or other outside Institution agency etc. without forwarding the same through the Head of the connected Institution.
4) Any act of a student which is contrary to the provisions of clause (3) shall constitute misconduct and or indiscipline which terms shall mean and include among others any one or more of the acts jointly or severally mentioned thereafter namely.
4.1 Any act that directly or indirectly causes or attempts to cause disturbance in the lawful functioning of the Institution.
4.2 Habitual un-punctuality in attending in lectures, practicals tutorials & other courses as may be prescribed.
4.3 Repeated absence from lecture, tutorials, practicals, and other courses, as prescribed.
4.4 Canvassing for or accepting contributions or otherwise associating himself with rasing of any fund or any collection in cash or in kind pursuance of any object whatsoever without the previous sanction of the Competent Authority.
4.5 Occupation of any building such as Hostel room, residential quarter or such other accommodation the premises owned or hired by the Institution without prior permission of the Competent Authority.
4.6 Permitting or coming with any person not authorized to occupy any Hostel room, residential quarter or any accommodation or any part there of or of the Institution.
4.7 Securing admission in the Institution to any under graduate or post graduate programme or any other course by fabrication or by suppression of facts or information.

4.8 Obstruction to any student or group of students in his / her or their legitimate activities as such whether in the class room, laboratories, fields, Play-Ground, Gymnasium or places of social & cultural activity within the campus of the Institution.
4.9 Suppressing material, information of supply of false information to the institution for seeking any privilege.
4.10 Possessing or using any firearms, lethal weapons, explosives or dangerous or corrosive substance on the premises of the Institution.
4.11 Possing or consuming any poisonous or stupefying drug or intoxicant in any form in the Institution.
4.12 Ragging, bullying or harassing any student in institution or outside thereof.
4.13 Indulging in any act as would cause annoyance or embarrassment to any other student or member of the authorities of the Institution or staff- member or any member of the family of the staff.
4.l4 lndulging in any act of violence. assault, intimidation or threatening in the institution or Hostel or outside thereof.
4.15 Destroying or attempting to destroy or tamper with any official record or document of the institution.
4.l6 Conduct, unbecoming of the student any meeting or special function or sports & cultural activities arranged by the institution or any other public place.
4.17 Stealing or damaging any farm produce or any property belonging to the institution, staff member of the institution or any other student.
4.18 Instigating violence, participating in any violent demonstrations or violent agitation or violent strike in the institution.
4.l9 Instigating or participating in any gherao of any official or staff member of the institution.
4.20 Violation of any of the Rules & Regulations of the institution or orders of the Competent Authority
4.21 Gambling in any form in tire Institution..
4.22 Disorderly behavior in any form or any act specifically forbidden by the Competent Authority.
4.23 Refusal to appear to give evidence before Enquiry Officer appointed by the Competent Authority with respect to a charge against him/her.
4.24 Any act violating any provision of the NMU University act, Statutes Ordinances, Rules m a d e thereunder.
4.25 Conviction in the Court of Law for criminal offence involving moral turpitude.
4.26 Any other act not specifically maintained here before which whether by commission or omission as would in the circumstances as an act of misconduct & / or indiscipline.
5) The competent authority may impose any one or more of the following punishments on the students found guilty of misconduct or indiscipline proportion thereof.
5.1 Warning / Censure / Reprimand
5.2 Fine not exceeding Rs. 1,000 /-.
5.3 Cancellation of the Scholarship /Award /Prize Medal. awarded to the student by the concerned institution, with retrospective effect.
5.4 Expulsion from the concerned initiation.
5.5 Debarring from the admission to a course or courses of study in the concerned institution. Debarring from appearing for examination or examinations conducted by the institution concerned for a specific period not exceeding 5 years.
5.6 Cancellation of the result of the student concerned in the examination of the concerned instruction in which he /she has appeared.
5.7 Rustication from institution for the period not exceeding 5 years.
6) If the Competent Authority is satisfied that there is prima case for inflicting penalties mentioned in

clause No.5 it may itself or through other person/persons authorized by it for this purpose shall make enquiry in following manner.
6.1 Due notice in writing shall be given to the student concerned about his alleged act of misconduct / indiscipline.
6.2 Student charged shall be required, within 15 days of the notice, to submit his / her written representation about such charges.
6.3 If the student fails to submit his written representation within the specified time limit, the inquiry may be held exparte.
6.4 If oral evidence of the witness against student is recorded by the enquiry Authority the student charged shall be given an opportunity to cross examine the witness concerned.
6.5 If the student charged desires to see the relevant documents such documents as are being taken into consideration or rare to be charges may, at the discretion of proving the charge or charge may at the discretion of proving the Enquiry Authority, be shown to him after the notice as provided in sub clause(1) above is furnished to him.
6.6 The students charged shall be required to produce document, if any, in support of his/her defense. The Enquiry Authority may admit relevant evidence, documentary or otherwise, at any stage before the final orders are passed.
6.7 Legal practitioner shall not be allowed to appear on behalf of the student charge in the proceedings before the Enquiry Authority.
6.8 Enquiry Authority shall record finding on each, plication of misconduct or indiscipline & the reasons for such finding & submit the report along with proceeding to the Competent Authority.
6.9 The Competent Authority on the basis of findings shall pass such orders as it deems fit.
7) Provided procedure prescribed above need not be followed & all or any of its provisions may be waived in the following circumstances.
7.1 When the student charged admits the charged in writing.
7.2 When the order of punishment is to be based on facts, which have laid to the conviction of the student charged for the offence involving moral turpitude.
7.3 When the student charged has absconded or for any other reason it is impracticable to commu- nicate with him.
7.4 If in the opinion of the Competent Authority, a punishment or fine not exceeding Rs. 50/- or Reprimand Censure, warning is sufficient.
8) If the punishment of rustication is imposed on a student, by Principal of the College Head of the Institution / Head of the Teaching Department of the University or such other person to whom the authority is vested by the Vice-Chancellor. If the punishment is imposed by the Vice- Chancellor the student shall be entitled to prefer an appeal to the Executive Council of the University within thirty days of the receipt of the notice of the punishment.
9) In respect of such student, Head of the Institution shall maintain record of the punishment.
10) The Institution shall, on each occasion of any punishment being imposed on any student, intimate by a letter to be sent Under Certificate of Posting the fact of such imposition to the parent or guardian of such student on the address available in the college records.
11) A copy of these rules shall be supplied to each student at the time of his admission to the Institution and receipt for the same shall .be obtained from the student. This receipt shall form a part of the record of admission of the student.
12) If any foreign student is admitted for any course, concerned Institution shall send copy of the rules to the concerned foreign embassy and department of External affairs.

According To UGC Regulations on Curbing The Menace of Ragging In
Higher Educational Institutions -2009
Administrative action in the event of ragging.:
1) The institution shall punish student found guilty of ragging after fo l lowing the procedure and in the manner prescribed in under here:
a) The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision, in regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Squad.
b) The Anti-Ragging Committee may, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments, namely;
i. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
ii. Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
iii. Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process.
iv. Withholding results.
v. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
vi. Suspension / expulsion from the hostel.
vii. Cancellation of admission.
viii. Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
ix. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other inst i tut ion for a spec i f ied per iod. Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
c) An appeal against the order of punishment by the Anti-Ragging Committee shall lie,
i. in case of an order of an institution, affiliated to or constituent part, of a University, to the Vice-Chancellor of the University
ii. in case of an order of a University, to its Chancellor.
iii. in case of an institution of national importance created by an Act of Parliament, to the Chairman or Chancellor of the institution, as the case maybe.
