Symptom

While you post a document with Down Payment and Jurisdiction Code, you receive Error message FS206("Down pmnts with taxes are notpermitted when processing with jur.code") is raised.

Environment

SAP ERP Release Independent.

Reproducing the Issue

1. Execute a vendor down payment transaction (F-47 or F-48);2. Enter down payment data with a Tax Jurisdiction Code;3. Post the vendor down payment with the Tax Jurisdiction Code.

Cause

The cause for this is the system design.Within SAP standard Include MF05AI00_BETRAG_PRUEFEN system performs a check, that down payments with taxes are not permitted whenprocessing with jurisdiction code.The according error message FS206 is displayed when trying to create a Down Payment for US or Canadian company code.

Resolution

Taxes may not be entered for down payments with the jurisdiction code taxation procedure.

As a standard SAP functionality, it is not possible to post vendor down payment requests with Tax Jurisdiction Codes. The only work aroundavailable is to make the reconciliation account for the down payment non tax relevant i.e. leaving the tax category blank.

"FI does not generally allow the posting of the down payment request with Tax Jurisdiction Code because a down payment request in FI onlydisplays one noted item on a CUSTOMER account.If down payment processing is carried out with Tax Jurisdiction Code, the changes must be transferred from Note 97288(requirement '84',LV61A084)."

Also, the 'posting without tax allowed' flag in the GL account master record is ignored in case of down payments.

You should, therefore, use a tax category for not taxable transactions, as explained above.
