By reviewing proposals for Centers, Institutes, and Research Programs (CIP), and By advising the Vice President for Research on matters related

to CIP.

Effectiveness

• Most activities are directed toward the evaluation of LOI for limited institutional submissions and of proposals for Research Equipment Reserve Funds (RERF), General Research Funds (GRF) and Research Programs/Institutes/Centers.

• How can we play a more proactive role?

Some Ideas

• Improve communication and flow of information between the Research Office and the faculty

• Understand the present state of our- Research infrastructure- Supporting Services (OSP, OPAA, others)

• Assess the challenges imposed by a growing academic population and the diversification of research activities and funding sources

• Understand the constrains imposed in the distribution or Research Overhead

• Advise the Research Office on long term research investment priorities
