Air as a source of post-operative infections has been overvalued. > Studies of I.Kappstein 2001
Main infection sources are the body of the patient and the disposal of germs and particles from the surgery team.
The Lidwell study confirmed a significant reduction of POI-rates with a Laminar Air Flow Ceiling system in the OT. > Examinations of more than 8.000 hip- and knee implantant surgeries.
Evidence of aerogene contamination (droplet infection) nearby the OT-table.
