Other Fabrications Ltd Bespoke fabrication

Other Fabrications is a London based design, fabrication and project management company specialising in three-dimensional projects for artists, designers and architects.Started under the name SmallProjects in early 2011 by experienced designer and fabricator James Shearer, Other Fabrications offers a full service for bespoke fabrication. Production teams and facilities are selected specifically for each project meaning that the design and build can be tailored to suit any scale, budget and clients needs.

Art fabricationOther Fabrications has worked on a variety of projects for artists and designers, offering everything from consultancy in the initial stages through to installation. Fabrication expertise in a wide range of materials and processes means that Other Fabrications can develop viable solutions for any concept.

Design and ManagementSince 2003 James Shearer has been designing and delivering works for artists and designers including high-profile projects for Tate Britain, Shanghai Expo 2010, The Barbican, Heathrow Terminal 5 and London’s Natural History, V&A and Science Museums.Other Fabrications can offer a full design and development service, with experienced designers and fabricators taking projects from concept to completion.

InstallationAt Other Fabrications we have organised, managed and performed many installations of artworks both fabricated by ourselves and by others.James Shearer’s experience in installation management includes everything from small individual artworks to 18 tonne steel structures. He has worked all over the UK and other parts of Europe, as well as the U.S., China and Singapore.
