40 Days of Prayer

West Olive Church of Christ November 22—December 31

2020

Forty Days of Praise and Prayer

It is not by accident that this time of year has been selected for this spiritual service. This season of the year is special to us for many reasons, but it is particularly a time when we count our blessings, give gifts to our loved ones, share generously with strangers in need, reflect on the year that is ending and antici-pate the year just beginning. Indeed, it is a special season!

As you know, the specific period for forty days has had a particular significance in the Bible. For example, for 40 days…

*Rain fell during the flood.

*Moses was on Mt. Sinai with God.

*Israelite spies explored the Promised Land.

*Jonah warned Ninevah to repent.

*Jesus stayed in the wilderness after His baptism.

*Jesus was with the disciples after His resurrection.

So, let us use these next forty days to the glory of God by faithfully devoting a time when, individually, or with a family, we can spend time in the word and in prayer. If we will do this, God will be honored by our prayers of thanksgiving and many will be blessed by our prayers of supplication.

Yours in Christ,

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayers and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to

God.” Philippians 4:6

“always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all” Philippians 1:4
