Oracle Database <=11g Architecture

Page 6: OTN Tour 2014: Rac 11g vs 12c

Multitenant Architecture

Container Database (CDB)

Pluggable Database (PDB)

Oracle 11g Configurations

Page 9: OTN Tour 2014: Rac 11g vs 12c

Oracle 12c Configurations

• Only the Hub Nodes require direct access to the OCR and voting disks

• Fewer interactions are required between nodes

Page 10: OTN Tour 2014: Rac 11g vs 12c

RAC 12c Configurations

How to Know which Hub Node is used by a Leaf Node?

• How to change from standard cluster to flex cluster and viceversa• How to change from hub node to leaf node and viceversa• How to see the cluster mode• How to see the node role

• How to see which Hub Node is used by one Leaf Node. • How to set which Hub Node has to be used by one Leaf Node.

ols.pl - A script to display GI/RAC cluster info (Doc ID 1568439.1)http://www.toadworld.com/platforms/oracle/b/weblog/archive/2014/07/24/how-to-know-which-hub-node-is-used-by-a-leaf-node.aspx

1. Connect to the Leaf Node you want to know its Hub Node.2. Go to $CRS_HOME/log/<hostname>/cssd3. Execute: cat ocssd.log |grep "clssscPipeConnect: Successfully connected to node

with connection string"|tail -1

Node Eviction

<=11g

• Interconnect interface

12c Hub Nodes

• Interconnect Interfaces• ASM Network failure doesn’t cause reboot

12c Leaf Nodes:

• Cluster software restart regardless the network

What-If Command Evaluation

Supported events:– Resource Start– Resource Stop– Resource Relocate– Resource Modify– Resource Add– Resource Failure– Server Pool Addition– Server Pool Removal– Server Relocate– Server Removal– Set Active Policy– Server Pool Modification – Server Addition

Supporting IPv6

In previous versions, support for IPv6 was incomplete:

• VIP and network agent supported only IPv4.

Oracle Clusterware12c provides complete support for IPv6:

• VIPs and network agents are enhanced to support IPv6. • IPv6 and IPv4 can coexist on the same network• A VIP supporting IPv4 and IPv6 is created.• Oracle Net Listeners set up endpoints using both addresses.• Databases accept connections on both endpoints.
