PRESIDENT IRENE’S PAGE

Dear Fellow Rotarians

It is an absolute honour and privilege

to be your President for this Rotary

year. But as a single head achieves

nothing, I am counting on the support

of all our members to achieve the

growth and goals we are striving for.

This is truly a moment to be honoured

and cherished and I will do my very

best to make you proud of our club,

but as I said I will need the co-

operation of all our member clusters. I

will devote my time and energy to the

obligations and duties of this post and

support our members with their

activities, and now being retired, I

plan to make an effort to visit our

various clusters.

There is an old saying “Do not pray for

tasks equal to your powers, pray for

your powers equal to your tasks.” We

have lots of tasks waiting for us during

this Rotary year.

During this year it must be our goal to

transform all the possibilities and

opportunities into success stories. As

outlined by Past President Gerald, we

have MADE A DIFFERENCE with

Project Dignity, the Educational

Programmes and all the numerous

little projects that our Rotary E-Club

of South Africa One can be proud of.

Rotary – MAKING A DIFFERENCE was

the RI President’s theme for last year

and our club certainly followed that

theme. But we are not stopping here;

we will BE THE INSPIRATION to

continue making a difference with our

ongoing projects and any new ones

that come our way and we are

thankful for the wonderful financial

assistance that we receive from our

Australian, Canadian, United

Kingdom, German and Estonian

Rotary friends.

I am looking forward to working with

all our members to achieve the small

and GREAT things that we strive for

and at the same time having FUN

FROM PATRICK COLEMAN

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

- The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

- The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.

- The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

- The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the minister reported the following results:

- The first worm in alcohol - Dead.

- The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead.

- Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead.

- Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.

Just then a little old woman in the back quickly raised her hand and said, "I get it! As long as

you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!
