GRASP – WHAT IS IT?

• GRASP = GLOBALG.A.P. RISK ASSESSMENT ON SOCIAL PRACTICE

• A ready-to-use add-on to assess social practices on the farm

• The GRASP add-on check-list consists of 11 control points and

1 additional QMS requirement that address specific aspects of

worker‘s health, safety and welfare

GRASP CHARACTERISTICS


• GRASP focuses on the existence and quality of systems rather than pass or fail

• It does not certify a situation, but it indicates exposure TO RISK

• It includes the most important criteria defined by the International Labor

Organization (ILO) from the United Nations

• GRASP criteria must be ALWAYS ASSESSED unless the local law provides better

rights to the worker → then that regulation will be assessed

• GRASP is an easy tool for implementing a social management system

• GRASP is applicable for all GLOBALG.A.P. scopes

• Providing National Interpretation Guidelines (NIGs) – summarizing essential

labour legislation

• GRASP can be assessed in every country combined with the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA

certification

• One auditor can conduct both assessments (IFA + GRASP), supporting the one-

stop-shop principle

• GRASP is less costly than a full on farm social audit because uses less time

• Not compliant, but some steps taken
