OUR FATHER’S PERSISTENT LOVE MINISTRIES, INC. MINISTRY UPDATE APRIL 2013 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, and the new has come.” 2 Cor. 5:17 Costa Rica Update! Thank you so much for all your prayers. I am presently studying Spanish again in Costa Rica and am very much enjoying my time here. The Lord is good and I have been doing well. This semester of study has been a lot more challenging for me then last time. (Maybe it’s because I’m almost 50 now. Ha!!) I have decided to stay on another four months and finish the course, so I will be here till August. I will be coming home for a short trip from April 24th - May 6th as they only permit you to stay in the country up to 90 days. Lordwilling I will be able to connect with some of you while home in NJ. My time here has been a blessing so far and I see the Lord helping me to understand and speak so much better. I can sense your prayers and appreciate them so much. Praise/Prayer Requests I praise the Lord for CC San Pedro where I can fellowship and be encouraged while studying Spanish. Please pray for Rosie’s children. They are not walking with the Lord and it has caused much stress in all of our lives. I praise the Lord for this time in Costa Rica and have decided to extended my time till August. I am grateful for all the things the Lord is teaching me here. Many great lessons in humility! Thanks for you prayers for my health. No stomach problems and my knee is doing really well. Al Terhune is bringing a group of guys here for ministry April 16th –24th. Please pray that God would use them in a mighty way and that hearts would be open to the message of salvation. We love counseling training!! I am excited to share with you that we had a total of 6 people attend the Biblical Counseling Conference in Lafayette, Indiana this year. We had our very first married couple attend and from what I hear they highly recommend it for anybody who is married or thinking of marriage. Four of the six were n e w and had never attended before. What an awesome time of growing deeper in the Word of God and being equip to help those who are in crisis. The weather was great and actually warmer then normal. The Lord heard our prayers and once again we thank Him for being the controller of the weather. Calvary Chapel San Pedro! The Lord has led me to fellowship at Calvary Chapel San Pedro about 30 minutes from where I’m living. This Calvary is a church plant from New Mexico. Pastor Geiner and his wife Denise are a complete blessing and I’m enjoying a smaller more intimate church. This body of believers has embraced me and I have already met some wonderful believers. What a blessing to be apart of another Calvary. The music is wonderful and I have committed to fellowship with this church while I am here. Helping Grandma!

Many of you met Rosie when she fl ew home with me about 4 years ago to NJ. She was the housekeeper at the house where I was living. The Lord has allowed me to once again stay with her and her grandson Sammy who is 5 years old now. He is truly a delight and is learning so many things from his “Tita”. (Short for “Abuelita” – Grandma). Here he is helping make pizza dough which we

served for our SuperBowl party. It was delicious!! Sammy really loves helping in the kitchen and Rosie loves having him.

A visit from my Sis!

I was so blessed to have a visit from my sister Beth in March. She so encouraged my heart and we had such a great time together. She was a real trooper sitting through 4 hours of Spanish classes with me. Ha!! She was able to pick up a few phrases here and there. We also had a great time visiting “La Paz Water Falls and Gardens”. The park had a zoo that was fi lled with beautiful exotic animals. It was a gorgeous day and we so much enjoyed being in God’s creation. This place is a must see by all that come to visit Costa Rica!!

My Language Class!

I have two different Spanish classes here at the Institute. Each class is two hours long with a fi ve-minute break in between. One focuses on language skills and the other grammar. I’m sure you can probably fi gure out what is my favorite. Here is a picture of my language class and teacher. Her name is Annabelle and she has really helped me so much. It’s been the hardest class I think I have had so far, but it’s been so good for me. One day our class organized a breakfast at one of the student’s houses. It was fun as we enjoyed doing something different. I will have completed the whole course here in August. Please pray that through this training I will be able to really make an impact on the Spanish community in the jails and glorify God in a mighty way.
