Eligibility

Computer Science Engineering

The computer center of this institution is fully furnished and well-equipped with the latest

computers and other peripherals. The center also has sufficient supporting staff to assist the

students as and when required. The center is equipped with high-speed internet connection and

peripherals like inkjet printers, cameras, and scanners.

The curriculum offers to develop the programming skills of the students from the very basic level

to a professional level. It also focus on dealing with the emerging challenges of the present

software development in industries. Project and internship are part of the curriculum in the final

semesters to expose the students to hands-on experience. An environment is created for

students to listen to experts, workshops, industrial visits and more enabling the students to get

exposed to industry perspective.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in Gopalan College is one of the

most prestigious courses offered by this institution, with an intake of 60 students. It administers

bachelor programs in Computer Science and Engineering, as well as doctoral degree programs in

Electronics & Communication Engineering

Multiple workshops are organized regularly to get acquainted and keep in pace with current

technology, and the current year 2018-19, saw the same on the building of robots, IoT, embedded

systems and PCB design.

Students are motivated to participate in Technical Events hosted by various other institutes and

have won many prizes like 1 st prize in a paper presentation held in SEA College of Engineering, 3

rd place in Technical Quiz, Robotics etc held at M.V.J college

The department teaching staff is a healthy blend of very experienced professors with Ph.D.

qualifications and young dedicated enthusiastic academicians who are pursuing their research

degree. The team has published patents, research papers in the top international journals like

Springer, Actapress, Inderscience, Taylor and Francis, IEEE Explore and delivered invited talks at

other reputed institutes.

The department which began in 2010, has constantly upgraded its teaching to integrate hardware

and software to create better, faster and safer technologies. The course with 60 seats includes

communications, VLSI design, digital signal processing, image and video processing, speech

processing, control systems, electromagnetic fields, antenna and wave propagation, microwaves

and radars, microprocessors and microcontrollers and more.

Civil Engineering Lab, Concrete and Highway Lab and Environmental Engineering Lab.The students are offered

electives which are unique to suit the day’s need like Geographic Information Systems (GIS),

Structures, and Solid Waste Management.

The Civil department is well equipped with laboratory facilities for all the semesters as per latest

syllabus. The department boasts of excellent facilities in the labs, namely, Surveying lab, Material

Testing Lab, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines Lab, Geotechnical Engineering

The department is strengthened with well qualified and experienced professors with doctorate

degrees, serving the department. The department is on the verge of being recognized as a

“Research Center” by VTU. A strong emphasis on Research is placed, with the department

faculty publishing over one hundred research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

In addition to being on the editorial board of prestigious international journals, GCEM faculty

members also serve as reviewers. The department conducts technical activities such as seminars,

guest lectures, industrial visits in addition to the Extensive Survey Camp held every year as part of

their academics.

Civil Engineering Department considered one of the oldest engineering disciplines, involves

planning, designing and executing structural works. The course at GCEM includes a wide variety

of engineering tasks including designing, supervision and construction activities of public works

like roads, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, dams, water works, sewage systems, ports, etc.

Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical department is well equipped with laboratory facilities with all necessary

equipments and instruments, namely, Forging and foundry Lab, Machine shop, Material testing lab,

Metrology lab, Heat transfer lab, Fluid mechanics lab, Design lab, CNC/ Robotic Lab and CAD

Lab.

The department prides itself on the well experienced Ph.D. professors and young dedicated

enthusiastic academicians who are pursuing their research. Our experienced faculty is dedicated

to excellence in teaching and research, always ready to guide and counsel the students.

Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2010. The department offers

four years Bachelor of Engineering programme with an annual intake of 60 students. Mechanical

engineers are involved with the design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, control, operation, and

maintenance of mechanical systems.

Aeronautical Engineering

The Aeronautical department, headed by well-experienced researchers and academicians from

the premier National Laboratory with over three decades of experience, is teamed with young

dynamic faculty members with a blend of academic and industrial background from reputed

institutions.

The UG program will cover the core areas such as aerodynamics, aircraft materials, and

structures, propulsion, aircraft systems, controls and instruments. Interdisciplinary activities will

be taken up through UAV design projects, industrial interaction, value-added special courses, and

special purpose research laboratory.

The standard laboratories like wind tunnel facility, propulsion test facility, Aerostructures,

Avionics lab flight experimentation lab are being established, keeping in view of the advancements

and also to enable the students to take up applied research problems using these test facilities.

Aeronautical Engineering Course imparts multi-faceted training to students in areas like design,

development, manufacturing, operation, and maintenance aircraft system. As these activities are

highly interdisciplinary, students will also be introduced to other related technologies in allied

fields such as advanced materials, embedded systems, and software technologies and more.

Aeronautical Engineering department at GCEM invites the young aspirants, desiring to pursue an

exciting career in Aeronautics, to join the newly opened under-graduate program.

Basic Science

Some of the emerging fields where chemistry has a vital role to play are nanotechnology, chemical

engineering, polymer technology, biomedical engineering, genetic engineering, environmental engineering

etc. The Department faculty includes Ph.D. holders who strive to meet the needs of all students in the

classroom by having interactive, simplified and dialogue-oriented teaching.

The Dept. of Chemistry strives to play an important role to guide engineers in various fields like corrosion

control, petroleum, development of fuel cells, metallurgy, chemical coating and treatment of industrial

waste.

Mathematics is the queen of all sciences and the mother of all technologies. The Department of

Mathematics endeavors to enable students to love the subject. Our main objective is to impart quality

education to the engineering students in mathematics so that they can apply the knowledge to the

problems arising in various disciplines of engineering, science, and technology.

The team is headed by Mr. Mohan who has a decade of experience in the subject and is a research scholar

under VTU. The other faculty members also bring experience and training and are equipped to manage all

the classroom challenges. We not only teach mathematics through conventional dialogue or technology

but also insist on the role of mathematics in the day to day activities through establishing proven facts of

application

The Dept. of physics, since its inception in 2010, has made a proud track record of quality

education, by maintaining an average pass level of 95% in VTU Engineering physics examinations.

The department has all the necessary infrastructure in terms of laboratory and required

equipment for the students to carry out experiments as per AICTE norms and as per the syllabus

of VTU. The department has a highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty.

Today's science is tomorrow's technology. Engineering Physics plays a primary role in all branches

of engineering. Engineering physics is technical physics meant to provide a thorough grounding

for special applied areas such as lasers, superconductivity, fiber optics, nanotechnology, shock

waves etc.

application form will be sent to the candidate by post/courier to the address given by the candidate.
