A VOCATION VIEWAll Souls Day; Nov. 2, 2014 “In You, Lord, I have found my peace!” Is the Lord calling you to be a peacemaker as a sister, brother or priest? If so, call Fr. Matt Dupre at 225.336.8778, [email protected].

Through the Waters ofBaptism We Welcome... We welcome these children who were recently made part of the family of God and our parish family through the waters of Baptism: Henry Paul Folse, born October 24, 2013, to Na-than Jr. and Theresia Vidrine Folse. Michael David Mitchell, Jr., born June 6, 2007, to Michael Sr. and Rosalyn Dumas Mitchell. Madesyn Leol Ann Mitchell, born October 27, 2008, to Michael Sr. and Rosalyn Dumas Mitchell.

COMMUNITY CATECHESIS Besides those I lovingly miss, for whom do I need to pray today precisely because they were difficult to love in life? Or because, at their passing, conflict or unresolved issues remained?

Book of Remembrance The Book of Remembrance is available in church near the image of the Blessed Mother to receive the names of your beloved deceased. Please list the names of those you would like to remember in prayer for All Saints and All Souls and throughout the month of November.

Bereavement Mass Our annual Bereavement Mass will be this Tues., Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. where we remember all from our parish who died since last November. Families of the recently deceased are especially invited. There will be a display in church of the photos of the deceased whose funeral services were held here. The display will be in church for All Saints Day and remain up until after this Mass.

Addresses for Military The Military Committee needs the correct addresses of our soldiers presently serving our country in order to mail them a parcel for Christmas. These can be turned in to the church office until Nov. 28.

Donations for Soldiers The Military Committee will be accepting donations for Christmas packages for those presently serving our country from Nov. 1-30. A collection box will be placed near the main entrance of the church. Monetary donations are best. Most stores gave a deep discount last year and each box con-tained a $30 gift card. Please be generous again this year!

Life in the SpiritSeminar Announced

A Life in the Spirit Seminar will be held Sat., Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sacred Heart PSR Building, located behind Sacred Heart Church in Gramercy. The registration for the event sponsored by Mary and Martha Ministries Prayer Group is Mon., Nov. 10. Register by email to [email protected] or [email protected]. Bring a bag lunch. Drinks will be provided.

When to Call a PriestIf Someone is Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick includes the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the rites of Anointing and of Viaticum, the final giving of Holy Commu-nion to the sick person who is approaching death. The “last” Sacrament is Viaticum, Holy Eucharist administered in a special ritual. Viaticum means with us on the way. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick takes place when a Catholic priest prays over, lays hands on and anoints the sick person on the forehead and hands with the Oil of the Sick blessed by the Bishop during Holy Week. The only minister of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a bishop or priest. However, all Christians are called to pray for, visit and show compassion to the sick. The parish priest of the person who is ill should be noti-fied as soon as serious sickness befalls a sick person, or when serious surgery is scheduled so that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, along with the Sacrament of Reconciliation can be scheduled. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be ad-ministered to a person who is not conscious. In this case, the Church relies on the desire of the family who requests this and on the presumption that the ill person would have asked for the anointing if able to do so. Since all the Sacraments of the Church are an encoun-ter between a living person and God within the Church community, anointing a person who is certainly dead is not possible. The ritual, however, provides official prayers for the dead and the consolation of the living as part of the Church’s pastoral care. Please know of the church’s prayers for you and the one you love who is ill.

Communion to the Sick Through our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Commu-nion the Church offers communion in the home to those who are ill, temporarily unable to come to church and truly home-bound. If you would like to arrange this service for yourself or a loved one, please call the churchand we will be happy to assist you.

With Sincere Appreciation
