A very warm Welcome to Lucas who joined Room 10 last week.

Unfortunately the POOL PARTY is CANCELLED due to us not reaching the required numbers we needed to cover the pool costs. We are sorry to disappoint those who did purchase tickets. Refunds will be giv-en out in the next couple of days. A big cheer of thanks to our PTA organisers for their time and effort!

School uniform overs In the winter months we encourage students to bring extra clothes to school when playing on the field. This will ensure uniforms remain clean.

2016 Artsplash Concert - Tuesday 30 August at the 7.45pm session - Tickets to this year’s Artsplash concert can be purchased from the office here at school for $5 or there will also be door sales in the Renouf Foyer before the concert.

Conor's Dad Barry, came in to tell our class about the Olympics that he worked at in Sydney. He had a security badge. He had a lot of photos to show us! Barry told us about horse racing and swimming. It was fun to look at pictures and hear about his help with the opening ceremony 16 years ago. Barry showed us photos of fireworks - they were pretty. In the food hall there was McDonald's, KFC, pizza and fruit. Thank you Barry and Conor for sharing this with us. By Aryana and Grayson, Rm 11

Lukah's Dad Jason, came in and talked to us about the oil rig and about his work on it. He showed us some photos on a slideshow. Jason's photos had dolphins, whales and even a seal that he sees from the oil rig. Everything on the oil rig is very big and heavy, the chain was ginormous. Jason brought in some beautiful shells and rocks to share with us and we passed them around. Thank you Jason, we really enjoyed your talk.

Catholic Character in action The Cardinal recently conducted an initiative for the year of Mercy to build a mountain of shoes for children in the Wellington Archdiocese. There was a fantastic response from all the parishioners and as a result there is now an office at the Petone Street St Vincent de Paul’s Shop over-flowing with shoes. Feel free to drop into the shop and say that you go to our school and could you look at the shoes, if your child requires shoes.

Our Lady of the Rosary Church has an active St Vincent de Paul’s group that wants to help people in our school community. If you need any assistance, including uniform requirements or a pantry top up, then please leave your details at the school office and a St Vincent’s de Paul member will be in touch with you.

Christopher Ellis from Room 11 wrote about the NED show for the

junior syndicate last week:

Dear OLRS

I wanted to tell you all about the NED show. The lady was funny. Her name was Jessica. She told us to be champions. She used yo-yos and told us what happened to Ned that morning. Aliens came to Ned's house and aimed a rock to Mars with Ned inside!!! She is selling yo-yo's in the office. I loved it so much!
