OUR MISSION

• Create a variable pressure fuser that can produce low grade images.

• Be able to vary the current produced by the fuser

• Allow for fuser speed adjustment

How This Fulfills Our Goals• This is a variable pressure mechanism, which can be

easily adjusted• Pressure regulators in each air line will allow for even

force distribution in the final mechanism (as shown in AutoCad Drawing)

• Using original equipment maximizes quality of testing results. Minimizes variables inherent in a completely new system.

• Adjustable cylinders are smaller then stock pressure springs and can easily be used as a replacement in the same location.

• An adjustable valve allows for continuous pressure variance as opposed to the incremental means by which some mechanical devices must be varied.

• The use of Air pressure gauges makes for easy repeatability, along with an extremely accurate means of pressure measurement.

Description of the Mechanism

• As shown in the following slides our fuser mechanism uses air adjustable cylinders to produce pressure on the moveable, heat and charge producing roller.

• The mechanism is easily adaptable to most fusers due to its small size and the original spring set-up of most HP fusers.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE• This mechanism can be placed directly into the

HP LaserJet 5000 with a couple modifications. Its possible we could use the printer to produce regular prints while varying the pressure from an external air source.

• Produce a variable speed motor driven mechanism with a simple drive gear to produce various speed prints using the aforementioned variable pressure fuser mechanism.

• Use the current connector located on the fuser mechanism to hook up a variable current power supply, allowing for the testing of different currents through the roller.
