If you would like to gain more skills in floral art or you are looking to become self employed, this course is the one for you. You will learn many styles of flower arranging and gain a qualification for your skills.

As part of your studies you will be required to produce a portfolio of your work. This portfolio will be used for your accreditation and will become a showcase of your floral work for prospective employers and customers.

COURSE OVERVIEWDuring this programme, you will learn how to design interior spaces with flair and imagination. The course will develop your awareness of colour including theory and psychology; shape and form and will give you the necessary skills to choose interior finishes including paint, fabric, wall and flooring materials. In addition to this, you will learn the skills for surveying rooms, drawing plans and developing your ideas on paper to scale. You will also understand design research and how to create inspiration boards, to motivate you to create design sheets for presentation.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)Duration: Variable

COURSE OVERVIEWEnglish for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at Bradford College offers a dynamic and professional approach to language learning: speaking and listening, reading and writing.

Come and improve your English in a supportive and engaging environment, using the latest technology. Our highly qualified teachers will enable you to achieve a qualification in ESOL Skills for Life at an appropriate level and you will have the opportunity to progress to either our vocational or academic courses in the future.

Your ESOL course will be six to nine hours a week, depending on which skills you are developing, and may include Functional Mathematics and ICT.

You will develop the confidence to communicate effectively in your local community and will engage with other learners from different backgrounds and cultures.

We offer ESOL courses from Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 to Level 1, at which stage you will be able to access ESOL with your choice of vocational area.

All courses will involve enrichment activities (short residential visits and/or trips to museums etc) as well as career advice and guidance. You will also be able to access a wide range of ESOL resources on our Virtual Learning Environment.

WHAT YOU CAN STUDY

Entry Level 1This is for learners who have some language skills and want to gain a certificate in Speaking and Listening. It may be possible to complete the full qualification (Reading and Writing) if you make enough progress during the year. Your tutor will help you develop the skills required to work towards examinations. You will gain a Cambridge Certificate in Speaking and Listening at Entry Level 1 (or full qualification at Entry Level 1).

Entry Level 2 This is for learners who may have been studying before and want to progress with their English skills.You will gain a Cambridge Certificate in ESOL at Entry Level 2 (Speaking and Listening). It may be possible to complete the full qualification (Reading and Writing) if you make enough progress during the year, as well as Functional Skills Mathematics and ICT. Your tutor will assess you and there will be mock examinations to ensure you are ready to take this examination.

ESOL Courses for Specific PurposesBradford College offers short ESOL programmes tailored specifically to your needs and your area of work. Please ask for details.

WHAT YOU WILL STUDYAll our classes include skills (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) and Language (Grammar, Vocabulary) practice. Classes are delivered at four different levels from Entry Level 1 (Beginner) to Level 1 (Intermediate). The skills and language used in each class will depend on the level of the class. You will learn about life in the UK (Citizenship). Topics include: History, Geography, Law, Government, Celebrations, Health, Housing, Work and many others.

WHO THE COURSES ARE FORThese courses are for adults (aged 19 or over) whose first language is not English, and who are living or trying to settle in the UK.

HOW YOU WILL STUDYYou will study in regular classes with other students of the same level. We have a maximum of 16 students per class. You will work as a class, in groups, in pairs and on your own.

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSEDHomework is set at the end of every class. There are regular Module tests throughout the course. You will be working towards examinations at the end of the course. There are three examinations per level (Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing).

QUALIFICATION TITLECambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Skills for Life. We also offer other qualifications.

COURSE LENGTHCourses start in September and end in June. We may admit new students into classes in November and February depending on the number of spaces available and the ability of the new students. Most of our classes take place during the day, although we also offer evening classes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSThere are no specific entry requirements; however you must have an awareness of the alphabet and forming letters. You must visit the College to take a short English test and have an interview with an English teacher.

Please note that taking a test and having an interview does not guarantee a place in an English class. If the course is full, names are put on a waiting list.

At the start of your course, your tutor will give you a course handbook that you will need to keep with you for the duration of your course.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:You might not have to pay tuition fees if you are in receipt of certain benefits. You will only need to pay £10.00 Admission fee and possible examination costs.

If you are eligible to pay fees, the course costs are £2.30 per hour for tuition. This also includes days out, use of the College library and IT facilities. There is an Administration Fee of £10.00 and an Examination Fee of £60.00 (applicable to courses leading to an examination only) which you will need to pay when you enrol.

You must bring your ID documents, including your passport and any immigration documents you may have, with you and evidence of previous qualifications.

This course will provide a Level 2 Certificate (equivalent to GCSE level) .

COURSE OVERVIEWOn the Year 1 course we cover the basics of language. You will only be taught the present tense, and we will include vocabulary about social contacts, getting about, holidays and food. We place special emphasis on your speaking and listening skills. At Bradford College we use an innovative, interactive method of teaching where you learn by practising.

Grammar is covered as much as possible by using practical situations, so speaking and actively using the language is vital. You will find it fairly easy to learn how to speak and understand Chinese, because the course will be delivered to you in the form of practical activities and exercises.

This is an accredited course and you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence.

COURSE OVERVIEWIf you are interested in learning the language of the deaf community, this is the perfect course for you. With our help, you will learn everyday language to allow you to communicate with a deaf person. There are three examinations throughout the year.
