Pastor’s Letter July/August 2018

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

YES, CHURCH is Open during thesummer! So, I encourage all to continueto remember the Sabbath day. Keep itholy - “Come let us worship the Lord”. Iknow that we all take a little time duringthese months to go away and vacation -it’s good! But, please don’t forget theLord and you church. We have airconditioning for your worship pleasure!

During the season of Pentecost, thechurch hears the gospel lessons whichreflect on the teachings of Jesus. Wefocus on how God in Christ calls us tofollow Him in lives of faith andcommitment. So, I look forward toseeing and serving you at the Lord’stable.

I also will be taking a little vacation and Iwish you also a little re-creation. If youare away, visit another church forworship and bring me back a bulletin. Ireally like to see what othercongregations are doing.

Please also do not forget to support yourchurch with your offerings this summer. It is always a lean time. However, thework of the church and its staff go onand the people need to be supported.

So, I thank you for your support andask God’s blessing on you and allour families these summer months.

Teachers and leaders forteaching the word of our Lord;....to ALL our Crafters for their beautiful work;....the Wednesday "REC" Crew who perform so verymany repairs and additions to our buildings duringthe year;....the Altar Guild for making the Altar so beautifuleach week..........and to all who helped in a silent way during theyear and no one knows who you are!

REMEMBER YOUR CHURCH WHILE YOU ARE ON VACATION!!Vacation holidays are great!! We all need to get away to relax, rest, and renew our energies and creativity. Please enjoy your vacation and do all you can to make it safe and refreshing. Also, remember that the work of the church does not stop because we go on vacation. Your prayers and offerings make our ministry possible. Before you go, please bring your pledge up to date. And.... then enjoy your time away with the knowledge that the work of the Lord through our congregation continues undiminished. You'll be glad you did!!!

Eastern Nassau WELCA Bible Study

Eastern Nassau WELCA Bible Study will meetfor their annual picnic on July 18th from 10am to 2 pm. We have been invited by St.Francis/St. Mark Episcopal Church at 1692Bellmore Ave., North Bellmore (betweenSunrise Highway & Southern State). Thegarden at this church raises vegetables for theINN at Freeport. A tour of the garden has beenscheduled for 10:15. They also have alabyrinth. Joyce Anderson will lead the studyon Prayer. Because our host church is veryenvironmentally concerned, please bring yourown plate/mug/utensils "mess kit" for lunchwhich you can take home to wash (no paper or"throw-aways"). All facilities are totallyhandicapped accessible. Bring a lawn chair, your lunch beverage and a food item to sharefor the picnic. All women are invited to join ourannual picnic study. Pass the word! Thank you.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2018The dedicated day of service is an opportunity tocelebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Churchin America. – a church freed in Christ to service and loveour neighbor! We are joining other churches across thecountry to put our faith into action. We are dedicatingthis weekend is September to serve our Community byhaving a Food Collection at local supermarkets for thosein need. Donations will be given to Lutheran Communityand Family Services, Uniondale.

Please save that date and sign up on the board in thenarthex to help.
