Setting the stage for the RC program’s launch
In the initial phase, the ground work entailed:
• Secondment of Tahir Jamal, EHS Leader at SabTank, by Sabic to work as the 1st Director for the GPCA RC Program (2009-2014)
• RC Committee under leadership of Dr. Jawahery & the VC Yasser Abdulrahim (GPIC) mobilized resources in 3 directions:
• Awareness & Capacity building workshops. The 1st of 24 workshop was organized in 2009-2010
• RC logo registration as a trade mark throughout the GCC State, followed by issuing the Logo Usage Package to members that carried out Self-Assessments and submitted Action Plan
• Joining in 2010 the ICCA’s RC Leadership Group (RCLG) as an “Observer”

“Members of the Steering Committee were very impressed by GPCA’s thorough application for membership in ICCA.GPCA’s comprehensive approach to developing and implementing a Responsible Care program serves as a model for associations that want to join ICCA”. Cal Dooly, Chairman of the ICCA Steering CommitteePresident & CEO, the American Chemistry Council
In 2010-2011 GPCA team prepared the application for the “Full Membership” of the ICCARC Leadership Group which entailed a “Comprehensive plan for implementing the RC inthe Arabian Gulf”
• GPCA application was unanimously endorsed by the ICCA Steering Committee in its April 19,2011 meeting in Singapore.
GPCA became the youngest ever association to make it to the Full Membership of the ICCA
