Shot putting is a throwing competition of special sports equipment - the kernel. It is included in the technical kinds of athletic programs. It requires explosive strength and coordination of athletes. It became the Olympic discipline of athletics for men in 1896 and for women since 1948.

All athletes are different but each of them hopes for their victory. Now I'll tell you about our national pride- Yevgeniya Kolodko and her victory.

Future athlete was born in Neryungri in Yakutia on July 22,1990.      At first the girl was engaged in stick pulling ( mas- wrestling) and volleyball. Then, like her father, she changed her mind and began to do powerlifting, where Yevgeniya achieved significant success, becoming a champion and record holder in Russia, as well as the Junior World Champion in 2005.      It was after this victory, Yevgeniya entered the St. Petersburg School of Olympic Reserves, and later she continued her studies in Moscow.

Some time later Yevgeniya decided to go back to Yakutia to train under the guidance of her father. Her father, a well-known athlete in Yakutia Nicholay Kolodko. He was a successful civil servant, but for the sake of her daughter’s sport career he left his career. His daughter did not disappoint him.

So in 2008 Yevgeniya Kolodko took the second place in the championship of Russia among juniors with a score of 14.87 meters. In 2009, in the European championship among juniors Kolodko was on the 9th place. After hard training young athlete took the second place again in the Championship of Russia among juniors in 2010 with a score of 16.15 meters.

In 2011, Yevgeniya won the Youth European Championship and the Cup of Russia, which allowed her to enter in the national team and she participated in the World Championship where she improved her own record from 19.33 to 19.78 m and took the 5th place. At the 2012 Olympics in London Yevgeniya Kolodko showed the third result in the finals shot put, but after the winner Nadezhda Ostapchuk (Belarus) was deprived of gold medals because of failing doping tests, Yevgeniya received the silver medal of the Olympic games.

Finally, I always hope for the victory of Yevgeniya Kolodko and cheer for her even if she loses I will support her and hope for her future victory.
