Yet the timeless One is constantly there, no matter the circumstances or challenges. We cannot always, if ever, know what the next season or chapter will bring. We can always count on the One who was there to hear our borning cry, as John Ylvisaker put it, will be there even when the evening shadows fall with that one, remaining surprise. While Jesus has told us what the surprise will be, we cannot know it fully now, which will make it even all the more filled with wonder. As we journey together, no matter what season you find yourself in, it is comforting to know we never walk it alone. We can stay open to the wonder. We can enjoy the present. Perhaps we may even roast a marshmallow or two together. The constancy of our God makes all seasons new, all things new, makes us new. Can you feel the (relative) coolness of the evening? Change is in the air! Fall has always been my favorite season: memories of walking to football games in the cool of the eve; later strapping on the pads and striving with teammates to be the best in the state; roasting marshmallows for s’mores; the smell of burning leaves… good stuff. (I’m stuck pausing as I remember!) While I hate to admit it, even though my Dad is 102, I’m confident that I am officially over the hill. I’ve hit autumn (or later, one never knows). There is beauty in this season: playing with a grandchild; cheaper insurance rates; less insecurity than younger years; more confidence in the presence and goodness of God. God’s faithfulness has been on display so many times over the years. One might get used to it, even take it for granted, that it will always be there. Many of us have been praying the Psalms these past few weeks. We can see from human experience that the times always seem to change. Background Information: Upon his death, Curtis Swanson generously gifted

his house to our congregation. Our constitution requires a congregational vote to

accept this gift. Representatives of the council have visited the house and the

council unanimously recommends the congregation accept this gift.

Two actions will be on the agenda for this meeting:

Action 1: to ratify the congregational council’s unanimous decision to recommend

accepting the gift from Curtis Swanson;

Action 2: to empower the congregational council to “sell, mortgage, lease, trans-

fer, or otherwise dispose of [this] property by any lawful means;” for the maximum

benefit of the congregation and its mission.

By “this” property, we are referring to the house at: 7023 E Kessler Ave, Mesa

Thank you in advance for your attendance, we will need a quorum of at least 60

people to act on this generous, timely gift.

From our constitution: (Chapter 5. Powers of the Congregation, pg 4 of 23)

§*C5.03 “Only such authority as is delegated to the Congregation Council…is rec-

ognized. All remaining authority is retained by the congregation. The congregation

is authorized to: §5.03 (f.) acquire real and personal property by gift, devise, pur-

chase, or other lawful means; (g) hold title to and use its property for any and all

activities consistent with its purpose; (h) sell, mortgage, lease, transfer, or other-
