PRESIDENTS REPORT

It has been a busy start to the new year at the Rye Tennis Club beginning with the Rye Tennis Club Family Open Day. We welcomed our new coach Julian Arnold who

ran free coaching clinics on the day and a free sausage sizzle was enjoyed by everyone who came along.

Next came a working bee before the 35th

Annual Rye Tennis Tournament, which is our club’s major fundraising

event for the year. The tournament was a great success attracting tennis players from far and wide of a great standard. It was the second time that our club has run a Tennis Australia Silver Money tournament and the second year proved to be event more successful than the last due to the hard work of many volunteers. The tennis was excellent to watch and it was wonderful to see all of our courts in action for the duration of the event.

The Rye Tennis Club would like to thank our sponsors, Tournament Director, Officials and in particular our Tournament Committee and volunteers for making the tournament such a success. The tournament raised $8,480.00. For a full wrap up of the tournament including results click here.

Our club also assisted the Rye Sports Association by helping in the canteen at the Rye Gift, which was

coordinated by Kate Keech. We look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming Club Championships

which is being held on March 17th & 24

th.

Coach

Julian Arnold

Rye Tennis Club is delighted to announce that Julian Arnold has been appointed as Head Coach for the club.

Julian is a Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach and comes to our club with a wealth of experience and ideas. Julian has coached for the last 12 years and has played on the professional tennis circuit both in Australian and internationally achieving an Australian Ranking of 119 and ATP World Doubles Ranking of 1524. COURT MAINTENANCE

Michael Morris is doing a great job maintaining the

courts. However he does need your support by:

1. Watering courts (fence to fence) before and

after each set.

2. Bagging courts (fence to fence) after each

set.

3. Locking up courts when finished.

RYE ANNUAL AUSTRALIA DAY

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE Many thanks to the tournament committee and other committed volunteers who helped over the course of the tournament to make it such a success. Much hard work went into the preparation of this event including the working bee prior, organizing sponsors, sponsorship signage and promotion on our website, registering the tournament online and managing the event and canteen. Also a big thanks to the sponsors and players that entered, as without your support it wouldn’t happen. Don’t forget to support our sponsors who help us every year. Their names and numbers are in the clubhouse and outside around our courts and are also featured on our website.
