If your district does not participate in RTTT, the statewide data set will still be provided to inBloom for RTTT contract

purposes only, But no dashboard will be authorized.

Q: What data gets moved to inBloom if LEAs opt out?

Q: Is the EngageNY Portal safe?

1.) Execution of legally binding confidentiality agreements with each of our contracted vendors.

To obligate each vendor to comply with FERPA and all state policies on data security and privacy.

Q: Is the EngageNY Portal safe?

2.) A third-party, independent validation and verification vendor (New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation, NYSTEC) will monitor:

1) Site and system security plans, 2) Back-up and disaster recovery plans, & 3) Security code audits

Q: Is the EngageNY Portal safe?

3.) Data storage and access protocols that use double security protection, including:

1.) intrusion protection (firewalls), &2.) data encryption: storage and data access.

Data will be unusable (because encrypted) even in the unlikely event that the intrusion protections are

breached.

Q: How will the ENYP protect my student's privacy? Will my student's data be sold to

vendors?

Data will never be sold for any purpose.

Q: How will the ENYP protect my student's privacy? Will my student's data be sold to

vendors?

Rather than a hodgepodge of security measures from every school district across the State, which actually weakens security,

http://www.engageny.org/resource/engageny-portal-faq#three

the ENYP will provide a uniform, high level of security and

protection for all student data.

Q: How will the ENYP protect my student's privacy? Will my student's data be sold to

vendors?

Vendors: access only when authorized by the State or school districts for educational purposes, including the ENYP itself and other specific school district uses.

(i.e. report cards or attendance reports)

Q: How will the ENYP protect my student's privacy? Will my student's data be sold to

vendors?

Access to student information from the ENYP will be controlled by local school districts and will be transmitted securely to teachers, students, and families.

Q: Will my student's data be sold and used for commercial purposes?

No individual or company will be permitted or allowed to use

student information for marketing or re-sale purposes.

http://www.engageny.org/resource/engageny-portal-faq#three

Q: Will my student's data be sold and used for commercial purposes?

SED does not – and will not – collect or share students' social

security numbers or photos; assertions to the contrary are wholly misguided and wrong.
