Happy October, Life is busy in our home! Football season for us is almost over, Parker has been play-ing on the JV team for Gresham and their season has been good this year. The emergency preparedness meetings were well attended; thank you for attending and listening! We are very fortunate to have Human Solutions returning and offering energy assis-tance. I can not stress enough, to please have your paperwork ready. If you need help please let me know early. Make your copies early, not the day of the outreach program. We have a new jewelry company coming, and she has many different styles of jewel-ry and well priced. We have a couple of road trips planned for October. Mt St Helens is a wonderful trip we are offering. It will be a fun informative day! The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island is a fun time to shop for produce. The drive to the island is one of my favorites. The colors can be gorgeous! We will have a Halloween special dinner planned. Our new chef, Sue will be offering a wonderful meal. Costume or no costume...it’s up to you! Have a good month! If you would like to share any trip ideas, please feel free to share it with me! Taunya
Thank you for prayers, cards and phone calls. I am happy to share God’s blessings with our Village

To my friends and neighbors at The Village. Suggestion for speed control in The Village: Since moving to the Village in March, 2015, my wife and I have been pleased to become members of this fine community of retired citizens. We continue to enjoy the friendliness of neighbors and staff and quiet time after hours. We enjoy seeing and participating in walks anytime during the day and evening. We have very few limiting restrictions which further provides for a relaxed and friendly neighborhood at-mosphere. However, within a few short weeks of liv-ing here it appeared to me that one of the limiting re-strictions was severely violated on a business. That is the violation of the posted speed limit of 10 miles per hour. I could go on about the problems of not abiding by that restriction but for those of us who drive an au-tomobile I am sure we are all aware of them. Since most of us are retired speeding to get some place within the community is not necessary and could be dangerous to any of us whether we drive or not. In short, it boils down to one word, r-e-s-p-e-c-t. That’s right, a small word with a huge meaning and impact. It takes so little time out of our day and can have such a lasting influence on all of us. I hope all of us drivers can keep this in mind and observe the miniscule restriction and pass the same on to our friends, relatives, and businesses.
Thank-you, Bob Wells #61

Dear Residents, Welcome to October! I am looking for-ward to the wet fall we usually have. I hope it comes.
I want everyone to welcome our new Executive Chef - Sue Jensen. Sue has a passion for cooking good tasting, healthy meals, and you can tell it in the food she
prepares. She has had a background in ca-tering and we are already enjoying her deli-cious meals. We are glad she has joined us
here at The Village. Stop by and say 'Hi' and enjoy some of her great cooking! We also have a new cook's assistant/ Cashier. her name is Sam Folsom. Many of
you may know her already for she has helped with some of our activities as a vol-unteer. Please make her feel welcome.
Our remodels are progressing well. #94 has been completed. #98 will be completed this month and they are working on #30. We plan on starting #12 later this month
#312 will be renovated this month also. We have started roofing our last four-plex for this year. We are also hoping our contractor can do our sidewalk work by #89 soon and
also in front of the community center. Thank you for your patience as we make all of these improvements.
I want to remind everyone to be especially careful of scams and people wanting to get something from you. Remember, that if it seems too good to be
true then it probably isn't true. Do not give out any of your personal information to any-one who calls you to request it. Always be
cautious about someone who is asking you for something. Have a great October! Dennis

We ask that staff and residents limit their perfume and cologne
wearing. We have some requests due to sensitivities to strong smells. I am certain that
it is not the perfume wearers intent and that they would be willing to change the strength and amount of scents they put on. Thank you for your consideration
Missing: Two, One pound blue hand weights from the Rec Room.
Please return to the office if
you have them!
Thank you!
Dear Village Community,
Greetings! As we move into October and into the Autumn season we have a lot to look forward to and a lot of things to share in together.
Autumn in The Village is beautiful! As the poet said, “Autumn, the years last, loveliest smile.” William Cullen Bryant wrote that and he must have
been thinking of the various shades of red, yellow, purple, orange, pink, magenta and brown that grace us. God is so Good to us! Here are two
scriptures that can bless us in our meditations, prayers and in our lives: In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a
Throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the Temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with
Two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to Another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of host; The whole
Earth is full of His glory. Isaiah 6: 1-3 You will keep in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You.
Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26: 3
May God richly bless you in the Autumn season. Love in Christ, Pastor Bob
After receiving some confusion regarding dinner time, I need to clarify and clearly explain the dinner time
here at The Village.
A light dinner is served at 5 pm family style; which means that we sit together and do not go through a meal line. As well, it is very important to call the office and let them know that you are planning on coming to dinner. Calls must be made prior to 1 pm the day of. Office staff will communicate with necessary
departments. Kitchen staff wants to prepare enough for everyone; therefore they must know by 1 pm on the day
you plan to come down for dinner. Resident Service staff set the table and serve the meal that is already prepared.
Thank-you, Caroleana
