THE GREAT COMMANDMENT “Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your
mind...Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22: 37-40
THE GREAT COMMISSION “…Go and make disciples of all na-
tions, baptizing them in the name of the Fa-
ther and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you…”
Matthew 28:19-20

We want students to awaken to who God truly is,
learning how to worship Him and see things as He
does. (“Love the Lord your God with all your heart”)
We want to be able to give students opportunities to
encounter God in real ways.
As they encounter these opportunities, we want to give
students the tools to know Him.
We want students to learn to see this broken world as
Jesus sees it; with eyes of grace, redemption, and hope.
We also want students to understand better how to
worship God in any context with their heart, mind, and
soul.
We want students to feel like they belong and be
able to create Christian friendships with peers and
adults.
(“Baptizing them”) We want Velocity to become a student’s second home as
they learn how to live in community well. As they grow in
this understanding of community we want students to
grow in knowing how to love others as Jesus loves.
We also want to provide older spiritual mentors to be a
part of the village necessary to raise a student.
5
We want students to impact their world for Christ
while learning how and why to share Jesus through
words and actions. (“Go and make disciples”)
We want students to realize the potential they have to
change their world for Christ in contexts of all sizes;
whether that is home, school, community, city, country or
world.
We want to empower students to be and do this change
in these contexts.
We also want to give students the tools to share who God
truly is in every context they have contact with.
We want students to discover God’s design for
them. (“Love your neighbor as yourself”)
We want to be able to give students a hands-on
approach to finding their passions and gifts.
This may take place by helping students discover their
S.H.A.P.E., by giving them opportunity to explore areas to
serve within Velocity, and/or by giving them opportunities
to serve outside the walls of the church.
