    Our visionary leaders

    established the

    Foundation of San

    Marino Community

    Church in 1958 because

    they believed in the

    Church’s Christian

    mission and ministry to

    the community. Over

    half a century later, the

    Foundation continues

    to operate to ensure

    that this good work

    will continue for many

    generations.

For where your treasure is, there your

heart will be also. Luke 12:34

    Creating a Legacy for

  • The Cornerstone SocietyThe Cornerstone Society recognizes those who have

included the Foundation of San Marino Community

Church in their estate plans. If you wish to be

included in the Cornerstone Society, please notify

    the Foundation or church office.

The Foundation of the San Marino Community Church

    • believes that, in response to God’s blessings, members give back through financial support

    • provides church members the opportunity to leave a legacy, and allows members to designate how those donated funds will be used

    • creates current and future giving opportunities

    • is the steward of the church’s endowment funds

Consisting of donated funds that are held and invested in perpetuity, the Foundation

disburses funds from the endowment annually to support all facets of the Church’s

community, including education programs, children and adult ministries, music

ministries, facililty care and mission grants. While the church’s operating budget

covers daily operating expenses, it cannot absorb all necessary long-term capital

improvements and special projects, and has only limited capacity for weathering

difficult economic times. This is why the Foundation is so important.

Gifts to the Foundation The Foundation of San Marino

    Community Church actively seeks and

gratefully receives gifts of all sizes. Gifts

to the Foundation may be designated

to support one of the Foundation’s

pooled endowment funds, or may be

directed by the Board of the Foundation.

Usually funds are divided between the

Mission Grants (40%) and Facility Care

(60%) funds. Donors can create a named

endowment fund with a minimum gift

    of $25,000.

In addition to gifts of cash or appreciated securities, donors can also choose to name the Foundation in their will, trust agreement, life insurance policy or IRA. Individuals may consider a charitable gift annuity as well—an irrevocable gift that provides fixed income during the donor’s lifetime.

The Foundation’s funds are managed by a Board of Directors, consisting of nine voting members, in addition to the Senior Pastor, who serves as an ex-officio member.

“Our hope is that by becoming members of the Cornerstone Society we will participate in the legacy of San Marino Community

Church, helping families raise their children in a Christ centered community of faith.”

    –Tim and Lisa Sloan

“Our family has benefitted so much from SMCC. We have each been directors of the Foundation and officers of the church and our children have been in church programs from toddlers to teachers. We know our annual pledge to the church is essential

but not enough. Through anniversary gifts and the Cornerstone Society we help the Foundation

promote long-term sustainability in church programs, facility care and mission efforts.”

    -Chris and Laurie Mitchell

“We are donors to the Foundation because of our interest in outreach, Christian education and campus maintenance. We feel that gifts to

the Foundation will provide a legacy for future generations.” -Randy and Mary Heartfield

All donors to the Foundation of San Marino Community Church and members of the Cornerstone Society are recognized in the Foundation’s yearly report which is published with the Annual Report of the congregation.
