Eastern Beach

Today’s the day (Friday 1 March) we are going to… EASTERN BEACH!!! We are finishing off the rest of our Education Outside The School. But this time we are going to Eastern Beach. When we drove down once again I sat down with Nicole. Me and Nicole also sat with Kirsty because she didn’t have anywhere to sit. Getting off the bus we lined up into two lines. We did the same routine as yesterday at Totara Park. We went to sit straight down on the tarpaulin mat to eat our morning tea.

Outdoor Cooking

My first activity was my favourite activity. I was not far away from the surface of the beach, it was more in the middle of all the activities. Outdoor cooking was our activity. It was placed under a bright red gazebo. We waited for our instructors to put us into groups of four. In my group was Erikah, Mia and Ella who were all sitting beside me. We were the first people who got chosen and we got placed at the end of the first table closest to us. We had lots of ingredients but they were not at our table. The instructor had her own table with all the ingredients . Our pikelets turned out perfect but the team in front of us was shocking! I had so much fun eating them!

Raft Making

Next was raft making. We got put into groupd of three this time. We had the same team except Ella was in a different team. We got to choose our own place that we were going to make our raft. We chose the table. Our raft was yellow because we didn’t want pink, it was too girly. Testing our raft we placed it inside the little river. Ours floated just fine and it was a pretty raft as well. When our activity was over we walked over to tent pitching.

Tent Pitching

My dad was helping for tent pitching. We had the same group as before. Making the tent I felt awesome. We placed our tent in the corner next to the lake. We were the most successful group in group 3. The activity finished in no time and we lined up to go over to paddle games.

Paddle Games

In paddle games we found out what BA’s are and they are pretty cool. BA’s are different to life jackets. Life jackets support your neck and BA’s let your neck hang out so if you pass out and your wearing a life jacket you will have support. I got lots of information about kayaking and I really enjoyed the tips. After that activity we got changed into our togs.

Lunch

For lunch I had fish and chips. My dad took me to the fish and chips store. I got a bottle of sprite as well as a fish and chips. We ate at a table on the beach and it was delicious. I loved fish and chips and I couldn’t wait until my next activity.

Kayaking

I hopped into my kayak and paddled around the beach. There were hard rocks at the bottom as solid as a wall and it was very sore if you fell into them. When we got out Mr. W.B tipped me over into the rocks and it really hurt. I had a little graze but who cares.

Novelty Games

My next activity was novelty games. Erikah’s mum was helping with it. First we played dodge-ball. You had to dodge the ball because it was obviously called… dodge ball. It was a very awesome game though. I had so much fun running and dodging. We also played tug-o-war with mixed groups.

Conclusion

At the end of the day I felt amazing. I couldn’t believe how fun this trip was and one day I hope I really enjoy it more than anything.
