outdoor renovation

Factor in last year's heavy and persistent rain, and the scope of project, and it became something of a challenge, which happily for everybody, worked out beautifully. One of the major foci of the project was to bring the pool closer to the home. Not literally of course, but by improving access by way of designated pathways in a Cobb & Co modular pattern paving in soft pastel shades which lead down to the new pool entry feature, providing a sense of having 'arrived'. Mark achieved this by building a timber pergola with Clancy stone as stone seating in the corners, and as entry piers to the pool area, which was extended and repaved in the Cobb & Co pavers, creating a much more expansive (and attractive) space. Also a major part of the renovation was the construction of a rotunda in the back corner of the pool area to achieve views down to the creek across the horse paddock which is home to Jack, the palomino. The construction of the rotunda adds another reason for a visit to the pool area, but the addition of the two pergolas - the second one is home to a classic style water feature - provides an elegant finishing touch to an area which is now very visually appealing. And when the wisteria which has been planted around them covers them in glorious lilac blossom, it will be a sight to behold! Mark has also included a series of three 'Leaf Skeleton' sculptures from Lump Studio which provide an additional focal point from the house. And at night, the illumination provided by the outdoor lighting lends the whole area a totally different presence - but equally beautiful. DESCRIPTION

JAMIN Building Design recently created plans for an outdoor renovation in the leafy and green surrounds of Brisbane's west. The transformation, facilitated by Mark Perriman Landscapes, was motivated into fruition with the advent of a family wedding. Key features include a new pool entry with two timber pergolas — one housing a beautiful water feature — and a rotunda opening up views across the horse paddock and surrounding bushland.
