Outer Islands in SeychellesThe project seeks to promote the conservationand sustainable use of terrestrial and marinebiodiversity in the Seychelles’ Outer Islands byexpanding the protected areas system andstrengthening protected area management,supported by broad-scale ecosystem planning andsustainable land management activities toconserve ecosystem functions. The project willfocus outputs and activities – over a period of fiveyears – to achieve both biodiversity conservationand sustainable land management goals: First, toenable biodiversity conservation, the project willsupport the official establishment of five newprotected areas in the Outer Islands,encompassing 1,237 hectares of terrestrialecosystems and 76,258 hectares of marineecosystems.
