Scratch is a programming language developed by MIT to make programming simplistic for young programmers.

The program makes it very easy to get an idea of how to construct basic programs such as games or animations. This program is very similar to playing with Lego's…but it’s still a programming language. Simple and sophisticated.

Fluency with Information Technology (FIT) is a course that covers many important computer skills that can be used in many career fields. These skills can be used for computational , data analysis and data presentations.

A few topics covered:• Becoming Skilled at Information Technology• Algorithms and Digitizing Information• Data and Information Analysis and Presentation• Problem Solving

We are able to take large amounts of compiled data and create useable charts that show trends and organize data into something useful rather than a heap of numbers and words.

This stuff was kind of boring…zzz…zzz…but still useful.

Computational Thinking

Computational thinkingbuilds on the power andlimits of computingprocesses, whether they are executedby a human or by amachine. Computationalmethods and models give usthe courage to solve problemsand design systems that no one of us wouldbe capable of tackling alone.

We also practiced putting together all our course work to create a web page that can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. We created hyperlinks within the HTML code that would link directed to our course documents and projects.

We learned some of the basic functions within photo editing programs that can help create useful animations that can be used to show change. Also, we learned how to properly “polish” a photo to fix any imperfections while retaining the realism of the photo.
