1. The St. Louis region has the largest number of registered nonprofits and the second largest number of reporting nonprofits — however, it lags behind in per capita nonprofits
2. The religious and hospital subsectors thrive in St. Louis
3. In the past 15 years, the number of registered public charities in St. Louis peaked in 2016 and since declined by roughly 10.0%

6. In 2017, the federal government awarded two-thirds of total grant dollars in the region, but local philanthropic grantmakers awarded the most grants
