OVERVIEW : MITCHELLS PLAIN HOSPITAL

A state of the art 270 bedded hospital

Executive Summary

The new 270 bedded hospital will provide district hospital and general specialist services and support to the primary health care platform within the Mitchells Plain sub-district.

Patients requiring higher level specialist and sub-specialist care will be referred to Groote Schuur Hospital and Red Cross Hospital.

G F Jooste Hospital (located in the Klipfontein sub-district), will be rebuilt on the same site between 2014 and 2017.

Some emergency services will be rendered at the Heideveld CDC, in order to retain access to care for patients living in the Klipfontein sub-district.

A new 30 bedded 72 hour observation ward will be build on the MPH site and will open in March 2014
