Title I ActivitySort the information in your envelope into

two categories (If you don’t have these materials they are available on the website)

Category A – what you want for Title I students

Category B – what you want for Non-Title I students

Page 4: Overview of Title I Services

Isn’t this what we want for all students? Use quality assessments and accountability systems to measure student growth Provide students with well trained teachers, viable curriculum, and

instructional materials that align to challenging state academic standards Ensure that parents and administrators can measure progress against common

expectations for academic achievement Close the achievement gap between high and low performing children

especially those gaps between minority and non-minority students, and between disadvantaged and advantaged peers

Provide children an enriched and accelerated education program Provide parents with meaningful opportunities to participate in the education

of their children Elevate the quality of instruction by providing staff with professional

development opportunities Provide choice to students in low-performing schools, allowing them to attend a

school where they are more likely to receive a high-quality education

Funding DetailsTitle 1 funds are used to close the gap

between low-income students and other students.

Funding comes from U.S. Department of Education based on the % of students eligible for Free & Reduced lunch.

ALL students in the qualifying school are eligible to participate in Title I services, regardless of their own economic status.

EligibilitySo, how does my child qualify for services?Based on data collected from teachers your

child may or may not qualify.Your child may qualify in math and not

reading.Your child may qualify in the fall, but not in

the spring.Once you participate you are not locked in. Constant review of data and fluidity of groups

is an expectation.
