Investing inYour Future

OVU Office of Student Financial AidInvesting in your Future.Partnering with students and their families, our office aims to make the process of paying for college accessible and easier to manage. We want to help you optimize all the resources available to you as you develop your plan for paying for your education.

Financial aid includes any loan, grant, scholarship, and part-time employment intended to pay for education related expenses. Aid can come from federal, state, and private sources as well as from OVU. Most student aid packages include a combination of aid forms and sources.

Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)The FAFSA determines the federal financial aid programs for which you are eligible such as the Pell Grant, federal student loans, and federal work-study. Once your federal aid eligibility is determined, eligibility for other aid can be assessed. Go to fafsa.gov to get started today.

Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

Additional Information

Direct Cost Refund Policy: A student’s total scholarships or grants, whether from federal, state, or private sources, when combined with scholarships, grants-in-aid and other discounts funded by the University, cannot exceed the student’s total direct costs. Direct costs include charges for tuition and standard fees for all students, as well as housing and board charges for resident students. Should the student’s total awards from aid sources exceed total direct costs, institutionally funded scholarships/grants (including academic scholarships) will be reduced accordingly.

Verification Process: The federal government selects approximately 30% of students nationwide for Verification. This process requires the Financial Aid Office to confirm the information entered on the FAFSA is accurate. Students and parents may be asked to fill out additional paperwork and/or send in tax return transcripts. Ohio Valley University’s Office of Student Financial Aid will notify you if you have been selected for Verification.

OVU’s easy Academic +1 scholarship program allows you to get a quick calculation of the scholarships you may be eligible to receive. Just follow these 3 easy steps:

1Review the ACT/SAT score ranges to determine the academic scholarship for which you are eligible.

2Review the +1 Scholarship offerings to see what other funds may be available to you. You may only receive

one award from this category—that’s why

it’s called +1!

3Review other OVU

scholarships to see if you are potentially eligible to

receive any of those. These can be applied along with
