Phonics:
Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read and write. It helps children hear, identify and use different sounds that distinguish one word from another in the English language.
Phonics:
We use a systematic form of teaching phonics through a synthetic process. The children will learn how phonemes (sound) and its associated graphemes (letters) are pronounced in isolation and then blended together (synthesised).
Phonics:
There will be an evening meeting (Virtual) in January, where we will go over phonics in more detail.

Home Learning:
• Reading (books due back in on Friday)• Numbers – counting forwards and backwards

Trips:
Legoland – Castle Builder Workshop
• Children will understand structure and design of buildings through investigating the design of LEGO Castles.
• Children will experiment with creating their own Castles and then redesign them, based on the techniques discussed.
• Children will understand the need for effective building techniques to enhance the safety and stability of structures, and the implications if not.
• Children will develop presenting skills when describing the Build and Features of their LEGO Castles.
Trips:
Legoland – Castle Builder Workshop
The trip will be happening during the 2nd half of the springterm dates TBACost will be £22 (TBC) per child – this includes the coach,workshop and entry to the park.More details to follow…

Animal Magic – ZooLab
We’re going on an animal hunt!A story-based workshop based on a classic children’s book takes children on a fantastic animal hunt!Our ZooLab ranger will take us through grass, a river, mud, a forest and a snowstorm before coming face to face with an array of amazing ZooLab animals!
This takes place in the summer term and the cost is about £6 per child.More details will follow…
